GLOBAL WEATHER & CLIMATE CENTER CORRESPONDENTRECOGNITION LEVELS
Correspondents may earn the following recognition levels based on reaching and maintaining a given level of article production during a given calendar year quarter (13-week period). Correspondents not reaching the minimum recognition level will still be able to write, but will not have any recognition level showing with their biographical write-up. Correspondents not contributing during any 6-week period will be asked to leave the GWCC site (unless there are extenuating circumstances involved in this absence).
Articles typically require at least one image or video along with a minimum 200-word explanation/discussion pertaining to some type of atmospheric phenomena/weather or climate situation. These will typically be within their assigned region(s), assigned alternate region(s), and/or assigned topic category, but can be anywhere at the GWCC site. Upon earning a recognition level, an icon will be shown next to their name on the correspondent’s biographical page.
Correspondents can move up or down the recognition level scale by either maintaining or not maintaining, respectively, an earned level for the current calendar year quarter (13-week period).
NOTE: Correspondents who independently earn the National Weather Association’s Digital Media Seal (DMS) will also have that icon placed next to their name on their biographical page. Other appropriate earned professional recognitions (e.g., CBM, CCM) may also be placed next to the correspondent’s name on their biographical page. Jordan Rabinowitz is the contact point at GWCC for information about these earned recognitions.
A higher recognition level means that a correspondent has given his/her readers more frequent opportunities to visit the GWCC site, and correspondingly higher traffic levels for the site. It also means a higher educational outreach and more visibility for the correspondent.
The following are the earned recognition levels for GWCC correspondents. The average weekly values will be determined by dividing the total number of posts during a calendar year quarter by 13. Average values will be rounded per normal mathematical rules.
GWCC Correspondent: this level of achievement is defined by correspondents who maintain a minimum average presence of 1 to 2 blogs per week.
GWCC Experienced Correspondent: this level of achievement is defined by correspondents who maintain a minimum average presence of 3 to 4 blogs per week.
GWCC Senior Correspondent: this level of achievement is defined by correspondents who maintain a minimum average presence of 5 to 6 blogs per week.
GWCC Lead Correspondent: this level of achievement is defined by correspondents who maintain a minimum average presence of 7 or more blogs per week.
This ranking system is active as of July 1, 2017.
