Alonga Cottages, 166 River Road, SUSSEX INLET
Alonga Cottages has 14 self-contained cottages and is set on the pristine river leading to St Georges Basin. The Basin is an ecological marvel being a coastal water body encircled by land with only the river exiting to the Tasman Sea. The basin covers a catchment area of 316 Square Kilometres with an estimated surface area of 40.9 square kilometres at an average depth of 5.3 metres. Located in the basin are six artificial reefs that range up to 2 metres in depth.
Sussex Inlet is a small fishing village that has been able to maintain the old fashioned character that existed 50 years ago. One of the most amazing attractions in the town is the huge population of kangaroos that live and breed around the town, they have learned to adapt to all the pressures of urbanization and are often seen laying in the gardens or standing on the streets with their joeys.
The town is surrounded by the Conjola and Booderee National Parks and has excellent bush walking and exploring tracks fully signed for easy access to waterfalls and lookouts set in the iconic Blue Mountains
