Simon Bolivar
Simon Bolivar was born in present day Venezuela, in 1783 to an exceptionally wealthy family. Both of his parents died while he was nine years old, and so he was forced to live with his grandfather. His uncles and nurse cared for him there. He went to the finest schools, but he always had a mind of his own. Having a stubborn and determined personality was what made him so successful.
Bolivar should be the definition of political independence, for he brought political independence from Spanish rule to Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Venezuela. Because of his achievements and accomplishments he earned himself the name of “The Liberator”.
Bolivar made a year stop in Venezuela, but then his wife died of yellow fever. He returned to Europe in 1804. Soon later he became a part of Napoleon’s, the French military and political leader, group of advisers. Bolívar returned to Venezuela in 1807, and he participated in the resistance juntas in America. When Bolivar returned to Venezuela, he joined the group of patriots. They went on to take control of Caracas in 1810 and proclaimed independence from Spain. He went to Great Britain in search of help, but only got a promise that the British would remain neutral, which was if no help to him.
In 1810 he fought against the Spanish during a revolt in Venezuela and because of this he was forced to leave the country. Bolívar captured Caracas himself in 1813 and took it upon himself to lead a dictatorship. A year later the forces defeated him. In December of 1815 he went “undercover” (and more or less hid there for the time being) in Haiti's southern territories. There, he received a hero's welcome by the military commander of the South.
In simple terms, from here he went on to affect the countries of Venezuela, Educator, Columbia, Peru, and Spain in many various ways. Some of the examples on how he affected them are drawing up a constitution for Bolivia, becoming the dictator of Peru, becoming Columbia’s first president in 1819, and demolishing the Spanish army. He has done so many things for South America that it is unexplainable. He was one of the most intelligent men known to date.
