Internship Role Description
Role title: Remaking Beamish Project Assistant Intern
Pay scale/rate: Point 4 £16,797 (12 month fixed contract)
Responsible to: Remaking Beamish Project Co-ordinator
Key external relationships: Remaking Beamish Design Team, including Assistant Director – Development; Project Architect; RB Project Officers (Remaking Beamish Project Coordinator); Keeper of Rural Life; Assistant Director - Transport and Industry; Head of Engagement; Access Panel; People Development Officer
Key external relationships: Visitors; Community members and groups; Project Stakeholders; External advisors/designers and engineers as required; Suppliers and subcontractors.
Purpose: Assisting the Project Co-ordinator with the delivery of the Remaking Beamish project. Undertake a bespoke training programme, while working under the direction and guidance of an experienced mentor to gain hands on skills while working on live projects in a heritage setting. .
Duties and responsibilities
· Help the project team deliver the vision of the HLF Remaking Beamish project, placing community members and visitors at the centre of the project.
· Assist the Remaking Beamish Project Co-ordinator by carrying out research, developing plans, communicating changes and maintaining detailed records of meetings, discussions and issues.
· Take ownership of your own learning plan and maintain a portfolio of continuing professional development.
· Undertake self-guided research to ensure familiarity with issues and risks as they arise.
· Support staff, contractors and partners engaged in the project to ensure milestones are met and delays are anticipated and resolved.
· Help team members to prepare change proposals and review the impact of these changes on the rest of the project.
· Provide assistance with the production of a wide range of project documents including risk registers, tender documents, presentations, reports, and programmes.
· Carry out a range of administrative duties: producing agendas and minutes for meetings, researching a range of topics, recording budget and costing information.
· Contribute to the Remaking Beamish project wiki.
Team Duties:
· Be an advocate for the Museum, the Remaking Beamish Project Team and its work.
· Work with colleagues to ensure consistent communication and cross area working.
· Ensure the visitor is always placed first in any planning and activities.
· Supporting colleagues with the production of reports and presentations as required.
· Carry out the duties of the post in accordance with the Museum’s Equal Opportunity Policy, Code of Conduct and Health and Safety Policy.
· Carry out any other duties within the level of responsibility as may be determined by management from time to time.

Well organised, able to plan and deliver work within a set time frame but maintain flexibility to respond to unexpected events and prioritise work effectively.
Commitment to completing work to the highest a high standard within deadlines.
IT skills – strong abilities to work across all Microsoft software packages, and ability to gain knowledge of other packages including Microsoft Project and Mediawiki.
Able to work with the highest attention to detail.
Able to maintain complex but clear written and electronic records.
Able to communicate effectively in a range of circumstances.

Experience of self managed study or learning which could be gained through school/college, a hobby or personal interest.
Strong general numeracy skills and experience of monitoring budgets/cost plans.
Experience of administration tasks, minuting meetings and creating internal/external communication documents.
