Rubric for the Two Matching Pinch Teacups

Elements for Matching Teacups / Meets Standards / Does Not Meet Standards1. A sketch was drawn and approved before starting teacups. Name & period are engraved on bottom of teacups.
2. The teacups were constructed by the pinch method.
3. The walls and base of the teacups are no thicker than ¼” and no thinner than ¼”.
4. The teacups range in in size from 2 ½” to 4” tall and 2 ½” to 4” wide.
5. The teacups have a definite shape (circle, square, triangle, heart).
6.The teacups have “pulled” handles that are attached 1/4” down from top edge of cup using scoring and slip.
7. The handles “fit” the cup, are “C” shaped & one or two fingers can be placed through the handle loop.
8. The handles are smoothly attached;no score marks or excess slip is showing.
9.The teacups & handles match in match in shape and size.
10.The cups with their handles are well balanced have a definite flat bottom to them so that they do not roll or wobble on the table.
11. If desired, an optional foot was attached to the teacup using a small coil that was scored, slipped and blended onto the bottom of the teacup.
13. The top edges of the teacups are rounded and smooth (not jagged).
14. There are no rough edges or cracks. The teacups are smooth.
15. There are no broken edges or cracks caused by drying of the clay at a fast rate.
16. The cups are aesthetically pleasing to look at and invite the viewer to use them.
17. The forms did not break or explode after firing
The Teacups are worth 10 points each and 20 points as a set.

- Put your name and # of the period you are in on the bottom of the teacups before they are dry. NO NAME = NO GRADE AND NO FIRING IN THE KILN.
