must / After the duration of the terms work should be able to safely be able to maintain a bike so that it is road worthy. This should include adjusting break pads and break cables, repairing punctures, replacing and maintaining other keys parts such as the chain.
Students should be aware of road safety so that they may safely use a bike and be aware of possible dangers.

1. / Students will be preparing small children’s bikes so that they can be donated to a local primary school. Students will be removing pedals, oiling parts, changing grips and painting the frames so that they are suitable to be used as balance bikes. / Students will demonstrate the ability to swap/ change pedals, grips and other key parts to make suitable balance bikes

4. / Students will be visiting a local primary school to hand over balance bikes to reception age children and explaining how to maintain bikes. 5. / Students will be using mountain bikes that are based at Sussex university to give them quick maintenance check and then go for a pre-planned bike route through Moulsecoomb wild park with a reward ‘slushy’ drink from the park café for the work they have completed on the balance bikes. Planning for orientated ride through Stanmer park will happen for the following week / Learning how to keep safe in and around roads. Understand how a wheel is constructed
