Location Information: Officially part of Washington, D.C. until 1847, Alexandria dates back 13,200 years as a home territory for Indians until 1675. Old Town was home to a large slave-trading firm and a large free black community at the same time. Today, it enjoys a close relationship with Washington, D.C., our Nation’s Capital and is closely aligned with Maryland, forming a mega tourist metropolis with many government headquarters, embassies, monuments and other attractions. Alexandria is only minutes away from the Washington Monument, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and the new National African American Museum in Washington and just minutes from Maryland's National Harbor and the Gaylord Hotel, which offers prime dining, entertainment, shopping and lodging. Thelavish new MGM Grand Hotel and Resort with the hottest shows, entertainers and gaming just opened in December 2016. You will have convenient access and time to explore many of these tourist sites.

Travel Information: You can choose from three airports – Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is only 8 minutes away by Metro (subway) or 4 miles by car or uber from the hotel. BWI-Thurgood Marshall Airport is 50 minutes away by car or 1 hour and 20 minutes by Amtrak train (with current Saver rates as low as $23 per person).Dulles International Airport is 35 minutes away by car or 1 hour and 17 minutes by train (a combination of shuttle bus and 1 Metro subway line). Southwest Airlines offers many non-stop flights to Reagan-National and BWI Thurgood Marshall airports at discounted rates. Amtrak also has convenient daily train service to Alexandria (ALX). The Amtrak and King Street Metro Stations are just across the street from the JFR reunion hotel, about a 6 minute walk.
