- If you are going to a community college, you need to take the COMPASS or ASSET placement test! Spring break would be a good time to schedule this important test so you will be ready to register for fall classes.

Class of ’63 Scholarship - DUE TO MRS. STINES MARCH 26th AT 3:00pm
- Must have at least a 2.5 GPA and planning to attend an apprentice program, vocational/technical school, community college or 4-year school
- Must specify & show proof of acceptance to a school
- Pick up an application from the yellow rack!
Stephanie-Knight Charlton Scholarship – DUE TO MRS. STINES MARCH 27th AT 3:00pm
- New local scholarship with a value of $500 (award may be a gift rather than money!)
- Based on academic record, references, and an essay
- Pick up an application from the yellow rack!
North Carolina Electronic Security Association Scholarship Program – DUE MARCH 30th
- Designed for students who have a parent/guardian who is a full-time public safety officer of a police, sheriff, or fire department or a volunteer of a fire department
- State and national level awards ranging from $1,000 - $7,500 (applications go to the state level first!)
- Criteria includes academic achievement, SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular participation, and an essay
- Applications are available in the yellow rack!
Nicholas Andrew Hurdle Memorial Scholarship – DUE TO MRS. STINES MARCH 30th AT 3:00pm
- One GCHS senior will receive $600!
- Need community service activities and minimum GPA of 3.0
- Pick up an application from the yellow rack!
Fred C. Jackson Memorial Scholarship – DUE MARCH 31st
- $1,000 scholarships open to seniors planning to study agriculture at NC State or Virginia Tech
- May plan to enroll in a 2-year or 4-year program at either school
- Based on achievement, character, extracurricular activities (particularly agricultural) & financial need
- Final GPA should be 3.0 or higher
- Get an application from the yellow rack!
Olivia Jule Forbes Scholarship – POSTMARKED BY MARCH 31st
- Scholarship value is $500 and is only available to local seniors.
- Sponsored by the Albemarle Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN)
- Must be planning to enter the medical profession and be accepted to an accredited college/university
- Selection of recipients is based on academic achievement & potential, school activities, community service, and work experience.
- Applications are available in the yellow rack!
Mid-Atlantic Christian University Scholarships – DUE ONLINE MARCH 31st
- Scholarships worth $10,000 and $15,000 available
- Criteria includes evidence of Christian character & demonstrated leadership ability
- Minimum 2.5 unweighted GPA for $10,000 award and minimum 3.0 for $15,000 scholarship required
- Must register online at to be considered
Jane Fischetti/Ann Barber Scholarship – POSTMARKED BY APRIL 1ST
- Up to two $1500 scholarships will be awarded by the Obici Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary in Suffolk.
- Seniors planning to pursue a career in human health care are encouraged to apply.
- Applications will be judged on presentation and essay merit, scholarship (academics), community service, school activities, and recommendations.

Gates County BELLES Scholarship – DUE TO MRS. STINES APRIL 4th AT 3:00pm
- Multiple scholarships worth a minimum of $500 each will be awarded to GCHS seniors!
- Must have at least a 2.5 unweighted GPA
- Financial need will be considered.
- Acceptance letter from a community college or 4-year college/university required
- Pick up an application from yellow rack!
State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) – POSTMARKED BY APRIL 15th
- Total of 28 scholarships available for four year college/university & community college/technical school bound students
- Parent must be a member of SEANC or become a member (See Mrs. Stines for a membership application!)

Gates County Hurricane Cheerleaders Scholarship – DUE TO MRS. STINES APRIL 16th AT 3:00pm
- Designed for seniors who have completed at least 3 consecutive years as a Gates County Hurricanes Cheerleader
- Must be applying to a 4-year college or community college
- Get an application from the yellow rack!
State Employees’ Credit Union People Helping People Scholarship - DUE TO MRS. STINES APRIL 16th AT 3:00pm
- One GCHS senior will be awarded $10,000!!
- Must be attending one of the 16 UNC-system universities (if attending community college, contact the college for an application)
- Minimum 2.5 unweighted GPA
- Must have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, & community involvement

Gates County Farm Bureau Scholarship Program – DUE APRIL 17th
- At least one scholarship worth $500 will be awarded to a GCHS senior!
- Parents/guardians must be Gates County Farm Bureau members.
- Must be attending a community college, four-year school, or technical school
- Priority given but not limited to students pursuing agriculture or agriculture-related business
- Academic record and community involvement will be considered.

- Scholarship worth $500 and awards for local high school students
- Criteria: Excellent academic achievement (minimum 3.0 GPA) and financial need

Lydia Gail Morgan Scholarship – DUE TO MRS. STINES APRIL 20th AT 3:00pm
- One GCHS senior will receive a $600 scholarship.
- Must be enrolled in business courses and interested in pursuing a business education
- Academic excellence and demonstrated need will be considered.

*Lloyd M. and Doris B. Wiggins Educational Trust Scholarship – DUE TO MRS. STINES MAY 1st AT 3:00pm
- One GCHS senior will be awarded a FULL SCHOLARSHIP renewable for up to four years!!!
- Applicants must plan to pursue a career in teaching, agriculture, or other related fields at a four-year college or university and maintain a 3.0 GPA in college.
