General observations:

Needs evaluation /
  • Gave some toilets to people who didn’t need them
  • There were already toilets installed by “women federation”, which they believe are easier to understand, clean and use
  • Toilets given to people that (mostly) didn’t exactly want it, but instead didn’t have one of the other models

Design /
  • Unsuitable for age group (most above 50) – stairs to climb
  • Unsuitable regarding ash supply (need to get ash from Ica which is 1h away by bus)

Community /
  • Community excluded from design concept and model itself
  • No committee organized to check progress, they feel one was needed so that the toilets were completed
  • Feel that it systems were working, less fertilizer would have to be purchased
  • Agree with the fact that the people that aren’t interested in the toilets should have them taken
  • Need motivation to finish the toilet i.e. shown all advantages and uses of toilets
