Job Description

Adriel is seeking an experienced Foster Care Consultant / Licensing Specialist for our Van Wert, OH office to recruit, assess, train and license prospective foster parents and provide ongoing support, training, assessment and retention of licensed foster parents.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the recruiting of homes in the community into which youth placed in the Adriel School program can be placed for foster care.
  • For those homes which are appropriate to be licensed, conduct a home study and recommend for licensure.
  • Work with the training department to ensure that all assigned foster parents are properly trained and oriented. Be able to provide training to the foster parents and assist in this process.
  • Assure the timely completion of the re-certification updates for current foster parent licenses. Meet regularly with each family to complete the re-certification study. Complete necessary state documents and submit them in appropriate timeframes.
  • Assure the maintenance of all foster parent files and their updates. Document and track all training for each parent. Keep foster care staff updated with the status of their foster parents’ file on a regular basis.
  • Be an integral member of the entire foster care team. This includes attendance at staff meetings, training, sharing on-call rotation, and participation in special events, office coverage, referrals, etc.
  • Provide case management services to youth placed in Adriel homes.
  • Establish treatment plans for youth.
  • Coordinate the youth’s treatment program.
  • See that assessments and evaluations are completed as required.
  • Work with the youth’s biological family in those cases where appropriate.
  • Be the liaison and coordinator with the referring agency for the youth.
  • Be available for crises which youth in treatment foster care may experience.

Job Requirements

This role requires a professional license to practice social work in the state of Ohio (LSW or equivalent) as well as completion of the State of Ohio Assessor training, previous experience in knowledge of ODJFS regulations and working with foster families; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters degree is preferred.
