Instructions for Paper Setter

Paper should be devided into 3 sections A,B and C.Section A,B shall have FOUR ques tions each,out of which the candidate must attempt TWO from each section.Each question will carry 7 marks.Section C will have short type questions(2-3 lines) of 17 marks covering the entire syllabus.

Instructions for Candidates

Candidates are required to attempt TWO questions each from section A,B of the question paper and the entire section C.

SECTION-A

  1. Hotel housekeeping department-role of housekeeping in guest satisfaction and repeat business,qualities of housekeeping staff,stock records,lost and found register,call register,record of special cleaning,guest special request register.
  2. Housekeeping control desk in hotels:-role of control desk,type of registers and files maintained-checklists,housekeepers reports,stock records,lost and found register,calla register,record of special cleaning,guest special request register.

SECTION-B

  1. Flower arrangement-Equipment and material required for flower arrangement,condition of plant material,type of flower arrangement-artificial,dry,fresh,foliage arrangements.
  2. Cleaning and maintenance of guest rooms,bathrooms,VIP rooms,public areas(restaurant food service,employee areas)-daily periodic and special cleanaing.Inspection of guest rooms and bathrooms.

  2. Garbage disposal:- Importance,different methods,their advantages and disadvantages,controls of odors.

  1. Business Communication :-Defination,objectives,types-formal,informal,verbal,written,horizontal,vertical,principles of effective communication with guests and other departments.
  2. Letter writing-Essential of a good business letter,types of letter,writing of memo,circular,notice,applications,invitations,use of telephone and taking orders.

  2. Training or visit to a hotel/institute.
