JOB TITLE:Membership Officer

LOCATION:Bolton Lads & Girls Club, Spa Road, Bolton

SECTION:OPERATIONS

STATUS: Full-time

SALARY: £18 - £21k per annum

RESPONSIBLE TO:Operations Manager (Play, Youth & Sport)

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

An exciting and ambitious role whose main purpose is to ensure that every child and young person, within our membership age range, and their parents or carers, are aware of the opportunities Bolton Lads & Girls Club provides across our sites. Ensuring membership continues to increase and our reach across the town grows, whilst supporting the retention of existing members.

CONTEXT OF THE ROLE

Bolton Lads & Girls Club, and its other sites, offers iconic state of the art facilities attracting children and young people from across the borough. The Club provides a range of high quality activities and experiences for youngsters between the ages of 8 – 19, up to 25 for those with a disability, to enhance the quality of their lives and provide support services for those who need a little extra help toreach their potential. By making better use of their leisure time and increasing opportunities and aspirations, our members achieve better outcomes.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Targeted promotion of BLGC in schools and colleges with a view to increasing membership in line with agreed targets
  • Plan and deliver an agreed number of promotional events and activities across the town
  • Work closely with the PR & Marketing Officer to develop high quality marketing materials and information sharing materials
  • To update the website
  • Utilise social media to promote the provision to young people
  • Monitor membership renewals and track member attendance through the Clubs membership database and provide reports
  • Lead and drive the membership renewal process
  • Adhere to all BLGC policies at all times

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Strong candidates for this role will have experience of delivering to significant targets, volunteer recruitment and retention and the ability to effectively manage a team.

  • Creative approach in planning the communications and marketing delivery
  • Excellent ability to design eye catching materials in a way that will be attractive to young people
  • Ability to work under own initiative and work collaboratively
  • Ability to handle a varied workload, react quickly, meet deadlines and prioritise tasks
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to develop good relationships with stakeholders and partner organisations
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing strategies

Knowledge and experience

  • Familiar with the latest social media applications and how to effectively use them for organisational development
  • Experience of working in a marketing, media, communications environment or role
  • Experience of delivering events
  • Experience of speaking to large audiences
  • Understanding of young peoples’ needs

GENERAL

The hours of work are 35 working hours per week to be worked flexibly in line with the needs of the Club. This is not a 9-5 post and will involve working unsocial hours in the evenings and at weekends, as well as daytime hours.

In accordance with our Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures, this position requires an enhanced Disclosure and Baring Service check.
