WHSCT REVALIDATION DVD

Available on-line soon

The WHSCT were chosen as a pilot site for the revalidation model. The staff involved have made an excellent DVD which is very informative and outlines stories from registrants who were involved in the revalidation process.

The role of managers is also addressed within the DVD and the stories promote the revalidation model in a positive light. Staff members felt empowered and felt that their practice was more autonomous. They enjoyed the opportunities to discuss their reflections with other registrants and overall it is reported as a positive experience.

What is Revalidation?

Revalidation is the process that allows you to maintain your registration with the NMC

Revalidation is not:

A new way to raise fitness for practice concerns

An assessment against the requirements of your current/former employment

Why are the NMC introducing Revalidation?

To raise awareness of the Code and professional standards

To encourage reflection on the Code in your practice and ‘living’ these standards

To encourage you to stay up to date in your professional practice by developing new skills and understanding the changing needs of the public and fellow healthcare workers

Training Needs Analysis

We are conducting surveys to facilitate training needs analysis from Monday 19th October until 15th November 2015 to identify the learning needs of registrants and managers at present within the NHSCT.

This will enable us to ensure full support and access to resources that will aid all members of staff to revalidate successfully

Please take time to fill in the questionnaires to ensure that we can tailor the required support to fulfil your collective needs.

Please fill in the questionnaire even if your revalidation date is not next year. The survey will be completed on survey monkey and can be accessed via a link which will be sent to each department via email.

Your participation is very much appreciated.

Each ward / department will have Revalidation Toolkits designed to provide all the information that managers and registrants need to revalidate successfully.

Remember that it is your responsibility as an NMC registrant to ensure that you are ready for revalidation and have undertaken the process in time to ensure that you renew your registration successfully.

If you allow your registration to lapse it may take up to a minimum of six weeks for the NMC to re-register you and this may mean that you cannot work until it is renewed and as such cannot receive a salary during this time.

Please attend educational sessions and gather your information NOW to ensure you are ready.
