LOCAL AGENCY AND DEVELOPER
REVIEW PROCESS
Signal, Illumination, Signing and ITS Plan Submittals
Review Process:
- The primary Traffic Design contact for Local Agency and Developer reviewsare the Electrical Design Team Leader and Sign Design Team Leader
- The Electrical Design Team Leader will receive 5 copies of plan submittals.
- The Sign Design Team Leader will receive 3 copies of plan submittals.
- The Electrical and Sign Design Team Leaders will review a plan submittal and determine who needs to review the plan submittals.
- The Electrical Design Team Leader will distribute submittals internally to Signal Operations, ITS Design, and externally to Signal Maintenance, and Electrical Inspectors where appropriate. Asking that comments and review time be returned to the Electrical Design Team Leader.
- The Sign Design Team Leader will distribute submittals internally to Special Projects and General Operations where appropriate. Asking that comments and review time be returned to the Sign Design Team Leader.
- The Electrical and Sign Design Team Leaders will use a Traffic Design cover sheet when sending submittals.
- Signal Operations, ITS design, Signal Maintenance, and Electrical Inspectors will send their comments to the ElectricalDesign Team Leaders
- Special Projects and General Operationswill send their comments to the Sign Design Team Leaders
- The Electrical/Sign Design Team Leader will review all comments.
- The Electrical/Sign Design Team Leader will identify conflicting comments.
- The Electrical/Sign Design Team Leader will attempt to resolve conflicting comments by contacting the parties involved.
- The Electrical/Sign Design Team Leader will work to eliminates duplicate comments.
- The Electrical/Sign Design Team Leader will consolidate comments.
- The Electrical/Sign Design Team Leader will send consolidated comments back to Local Agency and Developer Services representative.
Notes:
- Traffic Design Review Period Assumptions:
Standard Review - 3 weeks
Complex Signal Review - 4 weeks
(Design Team Leader will request additional time w/ justification)
Follow Up Review- 2 weeks to 3 weeks
(2 Week Follow Up Review Period assumes prior submittal complete w/ only minor comments and the follow up submittal has no new design work other than what is needed to address comments.)
- Signal Review Meetings:In the effort to reduce the review period for signal PS&E submittals it may be beneficial to have an early review meeting with the design consultant. The Electrical Design Team Leader will provide a review meeting request (including attendees) as their last comment of their review comments when they determine a review meeting will be beneficial.
- Electronic Review Submittals: Local Agency and Developer Services will be testing providing selected plan review submittals electronically. If you have any comments regarding this submittal method please let them know.
