The course content (assignments, help tools, textbook, etc.) will be delivered in MyMathLab via the MyLabsPlus website for UNT: http://unt.mylabsplus.com. Your username is your UNT email address and your temporary password is math1710. After you have logged on the first time, please change your password. In your online course you can view the textbook and submit online homework assignments. It is not necessary to have a print copy of the textbook. You can purchase an access code at the bookstore or online through Pearson. Temporary access is available, but will expire after 14 days. Note that technical issues will not excuse you from submitting assignments on time. For technical support, contact Pearson; your instructor is not technical support.

Course Description: 4 hours. Limits and continuity, derivatives and integrals; differentiation and integration of polynomial, rational, trigonometric, and algebraic functions; applications, including slope, velocity, extrema, area, volume and work.
Prerequisite(s): MATH 1650; or both MATH 1600 and MATH 1610.

Grading Scheme:

There are three exams, each worth 20% of the grade.

The MyMathLab homework average is worth 10% of the grade.

The written homework average is worth 5% of the grade.

The final exam is worth 25% of the grade.

Recitation Class: Twice a week you will meet with a teaching assistant (TA). Your TA will provide supplemental instruction as well as answer homework questions and review for exams.upport, contact Pearson; your instructor is not technical support.r techinical

Homework: This course will use Pearson’s MyMathlab (MML) platform for a portion of the homework. Online homework assignments are generally due on Fridays at 1:00 in the afternoon. Your lowest two (2) online homework grades will be dropped. If you miss a homework assignment it will count as one of your dropped scores. Note that if you have not completed an assignment, then a 0 might be recorded. Extensions will not be granted; do not send emails requesting extensions on the homework.

In addition, there will also be written homework assignments of which two grades will be dropped. Late homework assignments will not be accepted for any reason.

WH 222. It is Wednesday, December 9, 10:30-12:30.

Make-up Policy: There are no make-up exams. If you miss one exam, the final exam grade will count in its place (making the final exam worth 45% of the course grade). If you miss more than one exam, a zero is recorded for subsequent missed exams. If you have to miss an exam due to an event with the University, you must provide a document that has been signed by a Dean. In which case, you can take the exam (a different version) early. I require one week’s advance notice of the scheduled exam date.

Attendance Policy: Attendance to lecture. A student who misses class is responsible for any announcements made during lecture. If you miss six (6) or more lectures then you might be dropped administratively from the course with a WF.

START WORKING NOW: The best way to ensure you pass this course is to work consistently throughout the semester. In mathematics courses topics always build one upon the other making it very difficult to catch up later if you fall behind. If you need to pass this course because it is your last semester, your financial aid depends on it, your scholarship depends on it, or your parent/guardian has threatened to harm you in some manner then do yourself a favor and start studying right away. I will not entertain any pleas for extra credit or offers to do additional work at the end of the semester.

Note: You might be digitally recorded in the classroom at some point during the semester.

Disability Accommodations: The University of North Texas makes reasonable academic accommodation for students with disabilities. Students seeking accommodation must first register with the Office of Disability Accommodation (ODA) to verify their eligibility. If a disability is verified, the ODA will provide you with an accommodation letter to be delivered to faculty to begin a private discussion regarding your specific needs in a course. You may request accommodations at any time, however, ODA notices of accommodation should be provided as early as possible in the semester to avoid any delay in implementation. Note that students must obtain a new letter of accommodation for every semester and must meet with each faculty member prior to implementation in each class. For additional information see the Office of Disability Accommodation website at http://www.unt.edu/oda. You may also contact them by phone at 940.565.4323.
