Purpose of the Post:
The objective of the position of regional nutrition surveillance focal point is to provide technical assistance and support to the Government in particular Provincial Nutrition offices of MOPH in design, implementation and monitoring of nutrition surveillance and other nutrition activities.
Terms of Reference:
- The regional nutrition surveillance focal point work under the direct supervision of the WHO Regional office (NHC) and National Nutrition surveillance consultant , and will be responsible to provide assistance to:
- Prepare monthly work plan with collaboration of Southern provincial and Ghazni nutrition officers/MOPH.and share with WHO regional NHC , UNICEF zonal officers and other key stakeholders.
- Assist in organizing and conduct nutrition surveillance, growth monitoring training, and other nutrition training for MOPH and NGOs health staff.
- Support training of both facility and community sentinel sites in close collaboration with WHO regional NHC , UNICEF zonal officers and PNOs/DEWS
- Conduct health facility and community visits for monitoring and supervision of nutrition activities particularly sentinel sits surveillance system.
- Facilitate data flow from sentinel sites level to provincial centers
- Assist DEWS Provincial Officers in data entry into database
- Assist in developingadvocacy materials and key messages in nutrition to the targeted beneficiaries.
- Assist in implementation of health facility and community based nutrition surveillance.
- Work closely with DEWS regional coordinator , DEWS provincial officers, data clerks and provincial nutrition officers of Southern provinces and Ghazni Province , UN agencies organizations ,
- Assist in conducting necessary activities for further coordination and collaboration with partners.
- Active participation in nutrition cluster meeting and other nutrition coordination meetings,
- Report his activities on weekly bases to NHCand the effectiveness has to be discussed to gather.
- Carry out any other nutrition related tasks that may be assigned by nutrition professional officer, and perform any relevant performance except that of Nutrition plan of action as it is required and asked by NHC and NSS consultant
- Share monthly technical report with WHO and other stakeholders like UNICEF (zonal and main office) for information and immediate follow-up action.
Qualifications Required:
Functional Skills and Knowledge:
- Good computer skills (Word, Excel, power point ,Email and internet Applications)
- Strong commitment of working in team is a condition.
Educations
- Graduate from a Medical Faculty is essential.
Experience:
- Having a minimum of three years working experience in nutrition and public health
- Experience in conducting training and skills in participatory approaches are a necessity.
Languages:
- Knowledge of English language and excellent knowledge of national languages.
