Directions: Choose two career clusters to compare and contrast. Prepare a written report exploring educational requirements, occupational duties, working conditions, salaries, and future projected growth of each cluster. Use correct grammar and punctuation. The idea here is to get an overview of each cluster and get an overall feel or theme for each cluster. You might think about why the careers listed under a cluster were placed in that group.

Career Clusters

There are two career clusters that I chose evaluate. These clusters are Social Services and Arts. These clusters have different levels of education, occupational duties, working conditions, and salary ranges.

The first cluster I chose to talk about it Social Services. Social Services are all occupations that interact with people. The different levels of education have a variety of ranges. Two occupations that require only a high school diploma are a waiter/waitress and a dental assistant. The occupations that require an Associates degree are a pre-school teacher and a barber. The last two occupations that require a Bachelor's degree are a secondary teacher and an athletic coach. Although the minimum educational level requirement is an Associates Degree, the majority of occupations in this cluster require a Bachelor's Degree or higher. Some courses in high school that can be taken at school to help prepare for this cluster are childcare, history, culinary arts, language arts, and political science. Some general working conditions of Social Services are working on the weekends or during holidays, having an understaffed job and having to take work for another person, some jobs are part time, and traveling. The general salary ranges from $6.61 to $21.56. The percent of future growth of Social Services is 77%. Most people that are in the social services industry love to interact with people, they have to be able to counsel, and people that have a desire to help others.

The next cluster that was of interest to me is Arts. Arts are expressing your emotions through applied arts and creative and performing arts. This occupation also has a variety of educational ranges. If you were to only have a high school education, the only job that is available is an artist. The occupations that require an Associates Degree are a photographer and a set designer. The occupations that require a Bachelor's Degree are the careers of an illustrator and a graphic designer. Some courses in high school that can help prepare for this cluster are journalism, language arts, graphic arts, photography, sculpture and any fine arts courses. Some working conditions may contain working outside, working nights and holidays, extensive traveling, and working in hot conditions. The general salary ranges from $6.54 to $12.20. The percent of future growth in this cluster is 100%. Most people that are in the arts industry are very talented in what they do, some like to be in front of people and perform, depending on what they art, they may be physically fit.

The two career clusters I chose to evaluate were Social Services and Arts. I hope this information was of some sort of help to you. Now go and follow your dreams!
