CONFERENCE HOME
The International Conference on Business Data Mining will be organized during 28th – 31st December 2008 at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. The conference is organized by CR RAO AIMSCS, with support from CMS, Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India.
THEME OF THE CONFERENCE
With the increased and widespread use of technologies, interest in data mining has advanced rapidly. Companies are now utilizing data mining techniques to examine their database looking for trends, relationships, and outcomes to enhance their overall operations and discover new patterns that may allow them to better serve their customers. Data mining provides numerous benefits to business, government, society as well as individual persons.
New data mining techniques are being developed making use of advances in computing power to analyze large data sets and machine learning techniques without making undue model assumptions. The aim of the conference is to create a forum for presentation of new methodologies in data mining and case studies in different areas.
It is also the aim of the conference to bring together experts in statistics, computer science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and pattern recognition for exchange of views and for formulating a suitable syllabus for training data mining researchers and consultants.
ABOUT CR RAO AIMSCS
The Institute which was registered in the year 2005, started functioning since jan.2008, in the campus of UOH. The institute was named after CR RAO, Sc’D’ (Cantab), F.R.S., Padma Vibhushan Awardee. CR Rao is among the world leaders in statistical science over the last six decades. His research, scholarship and professional services have had a profound influence on theory and applications of statistics.
Technical terms such as Cramer Rao inequality, Rao Blackwellization, Rao’s Score Test, Fisher-Rao and Rao Theorems, Rao Distance, Orthogonal arrays appear in all standard books on statistics.
The Institute has initiated action to create four different Centres of Excellence in the following areas to carry out Research, Development, Consultancy and Training:
a. Centre of Excellence in Mathematical Sciences
Mathematics, Statistics and Discrete mathematics with applications in Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical and Biological Sciences.
b. Centre of Excellence in Statistics
Planning and Programme Implementation and Statistical Data Base (Simulation , Modelling, Quality Data etc.,)
c. Centre of excellence in Signal Processing, Cryptography and Computer Science
To work in the areas that cover national security.
d. Centre of Excellence in Computational Genomics
To accelerate research in Bio-Technology, with the aim of increasing food production and to provide better health care to the people for the welfare of the people.
