Class of 2015

Herff Jones will be on campus on Tuesday April 7th, to deliver graduation announcements. They will be set up in the GHS cafeteria during all lunches.

Tickets for the senior prom are now on sale at Eagle Mart! The cost is now $40, and if you wait to buy your Prom Ticket on April 11, it will cost $50.00!!!

Class of 2016

Eagle Happenings

The first public performance of this year’s One Act Play, and only for this week, will be this Wednesday March 25th in the PAC at 6:30 pm. We will compete this Saturday at 3pm at Dripping Springs High School. Please take one of these opportunities to come support the students. They have spent many hours to put this together. This Wednesday’s performance is free, but we will be taking donations for the Alzheimer’s Society. There will be an admission charge for Saturday’s contest. Thank you for all your support.

Girls State

Congratulations to JoAn Collins and Abigail Hays for being selected to attend Girls State.

Jack Frost Citizen of the Month

The Jack Frost Citizen of the Month Committee is proud to announce the March winners,Anna Zimmerman and Nathan Wyman. Anna and Nathan will be recognized at the March school board meeting March 23rd and will have a breakfast in their honor in April.

Project Graduation

Project Graduation will be meeting on Tuesday, March 31st, at 6:30 in the GHS Lecture Hall. We need parents to get involved with the planning, volunteering the night of project graduation and ask that each Senior family make a donation of at least $25.00. We need Senior parents to get involved to make GHS Project Graduation 2015 a success!

GHS PTSA Brick Pavers are now on sale! Order NOW before it's too late.

Space is limited this year, so send in your order early before we are sold out; this could be your last opportunity to purchase. Order a brick in honor or memory of a loved one, brag about yourself, purchase agift for a graduating senior, show your support for your favorite teacher or just mark your place in GHS history.

Georgetown Area Republican Women – deadline to turn in applications (Annex Office or College and Career Center Rm 118) Wednesday March 25, 2015

Fri March 27th - Chaparral Women’s Club, Frost Elementary Student Council, Georgetown Area Car Club, San Gabriel Women’s Club, Village Elementary Student Council, and McCoy Elementary Student Council.

Local Scholarship Information:

Seniors, local scholarship applications are now available in the Annex Office and the College and Career Center in Rm. 118. Applications are now available for download from the GHS website under the Scholarships quick link. Email completed applications to Ms. Charpentier at or return to the Annex Office. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON THE APPLICATION, all applications are due no later than March 31, 2015.

Soaring Eagles

Colorguard

A huge congratulations goes out to the GHS Colorguard for their performance and placement at the TCGC East View Competition held on Saturday March 14th. They finished 2nd place in their division. It was an exciting day and performance. The group will next compete at the TCGC Hendrickson Competition held this coming Saturday March 28th. Our performance time is 10:24am, so come on out and support them. This is their last regular season contest before heading to Texas A&M University on April 10th for the Texas Colorguard Circuit State Championships!!!

Golf – Boys

The J.V. Golf Team competed very well in the Teravista Golf Tournament and placed 5th overall. Leading the team in scoring were Freshmen Davis Northcutt and Philip W. Price. Other members of the team were Andy Martin, Cooper Cash, and Owen Kinney

Powerlifting

Congratulation to girl power lifter Baylee Hill for placing in the top ten in the State by taking the 9th spot At the Girls State Powerlifting Championship last weekend in Corpus Christi. This season Baylee has had 3 gold medals, 1 silver, a 3rd place medal at the Girls Regional Championship and Qualified for the State Meet. Great Job Baylee!

Congratulations also to boy power lifters Ty Hill and Aaron Johnson for a winning season. Ty Hill finished the season with 2 gold medal 2 silvers, 1 3rd place medal and an invitation to the boys Regional Championship. Aaron finished the season with 4 gold medals and 1 silver and an invitation to the boys Regional Championship. Great job this season!

STAAR Testing

STAAR Testing Announcement:

This is a reminder that we will be administering the ELA 1 and ELA 2 STAAR tests next week.

The ELA 1 test will be Monday March 30th

The ELA 2 test will be Wednesday April 1st

Student’s class numbers will be posted around College and Main near the cafeteria Thursday afternoon and Friday. Please check for your room location prior to Monday morning.

All testing will take place in the ANNEX. If you have classes in the Annex on B days, begin asking your teachers where you will be meeting Monday and Wednesday.

Some IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:

Testers will be required to stay in the testing rooms until 1:30.

All testers will have C lunch.

You may bring clean snacks (ie. No Cheetos, Doritos etc.) and water.

You can bring something to read with the exception of textbooks and electronic devices.

Lunches for Non-Testers:

The remainder of the campus will attend lunches as follows:

Classes North of the Cafeteria will attend A lunch (Areas: CTE, Science, English, Athletics/PE)

Classes South of the Cafeteria will attend B lunch (Areas: Music, Math, Soc. Stu)

Student Council

Attention students wanting to run for Student Council office! Attention 10th and 11th graders wanting to run for next year’s Junior and Senior class office. There is a very important meeting in RM 520, Mr Barber’s room, this Thursday 3/26 at 8:10 or 4:00. Elections will be held on April 8th and 9th.

Student Trainers

Do you like sports? Are you interested in the healthcare field? If so, you may be interested in becoming a member of the student athletic trainer program at Georgetown High School next year. The student trainers work closely with each athletic team at GHS to provide medical coverage at games, practices, and in the training room. As a student trainer you will learn taping and bandaging techniques, emergency care, evaluation of injuries and illnesses, and many other topics in the healthcare field. Applications are now being accepted to become a student trainer for the 2015-2016 school year. You may contact Ms. Mo or Mr. H in the Fieldhouse training room any morning before 8am or immediately after school for more information. Please contact them prior to April 10, 2015.
