JUDGING REQUIREMENTS

Please register the judges you will bring to the State tournament on tabroom.com by March 16. Please indicate which day(s) they will be available, if they will not be available for both days. Each judge may cover one obligation each day, but the tournament will be mixing judges across the daily events. Please remember that judges are needed for the full day including final rounds. You are responsible for providing judges per UHSAA Handbook Ch.3 Art.1 Sec.16 as follows:

“1. 1 judge for 1 to 2 debate teams

2. 2 judges for 3 debate teams

3. 1 judge for 1 to 4 I.E. contestants

4. 2 judges for 5 to 8 I.E. contestants

5. 1 judge for 1 to 3 L.D. contestants

6. 1 judge for 1 to 3 Public Forum teams

A full slate for 1A would require 3 judges on the IE day and 4 judges on the debate day. This is the maximum for which a team will be paid. A team desiring to bring more judges than required may work it out with other schools that need additional judges to fulfill their quota. There will be a $100 charge per judge for judge slots not filled.

Judges will be expected to read the Judge Handout and sign that they will meet the obligations outlined. This document will be sent to coaches one week before the competition. This will replace the judges’ orientation meeting.
