We would like to take this opportunity to bring you news from SMPOA as we invoice for the 2013 annual dues. Your dues allow us to deliver lawn maintenance, tree care, snow plowing, pool passes, etc. to our SchussMountain community. We continue to strive to bring you member benefits. Please see the attached information page.

We would like to inform you of the following:

At the SMPOA September annual homeowners meeting there was discussion about the need for a dues increase for the 2013 calendar year. After reviewing our 2013 budget, it was decided at the January Board of Director’s meeting that to keep up with escalating costs there should be a 10% dues increase for 2013. There has not been an increasein dues for at least the last ten years and possibly longer. The new annual dues structure is as follows:

Home owners: 2012 $240.00 2013 $264.00 increase of $24

Lot owners: 2012 $60.00 2013 $66.00 increase of $6

Condo owners:2012 $120.00 2013 $120.00 no increase

(Condo’s supply their owner lawn maintenance and snow removal)

This year property owner’s weekend is May, 3-5. Please be sure to contact the resort to book your tee times.

The 2013 Shanty Creek Resort property owners annual meeting is scheduled for Saturday, September, 14, 2013. Our SMPOA annual meeting will be held on the same day following the Resort’s meeting and will be held at the CortinaConferenceCenter. (Please check our website for additional details as the date approaches)

Five Corner’s Cleanup will take place on Saturday, May, 25th( Saturday of Memorial Weekend) at 10:00 am. Please feel free to join us to help spruce up our Five Corner’s garden area, to visit with neighbors and share some refreshments. Remember… many hands will lighten the load.

Our Spring Clean Up/Chipping will be conducted during the first two weeks in June. You should plan to have your debris roadside for the pickup by June 1, 2013. Your dues must be paid by May 15 to have your debris removed. This is a member benefit.

We are always looking for people interested in serving on the SMPOA board, if you would like to get involved, feel free to contact any board member.

And, now some good news about the resort….. Shanty Creek Resort COO, Pete Bigford, reports that last year golf was up 5%, revenue up 7% and preseason ski passes were up 17%. According to Mr. Bigford, “everything is trending up.” With the great winter season we have experienced so far hopefully, there will be good news in regard to this ski season! As you may already know the resort has renovated the Summit indoor pool and is adding an elevator at Lakeview hotel. Good news about the resort has a positive effect on all of the communities at Shanty Creek.

PoolPass Information

The resort has made the pools at SummitVillage and SchussMountain only accessible to those who have a pool pass. ALL PAID members are entitled to one (1) pass per family. Pool passes are valid from April 1, 2013 – March 31, 2014.Please request a pool pass only if you will be using the pool facilities.For every pool pass distributed by SMPOA the resort charges our association a fee. This fee is for pool maintenance. If you are a Mountain Creek Club member, please acquire your pass from Coleen at the Mountain Creek Club office.

The SMPOA Board and yourannual dues do the following for you……. Serves as a liaison/communication with the Resort, MAWSA( water/plume), township (dumpsters), road commission and other associations. SMPOA president sits on the President’s Council with the resort and all other associations at Shanty Creek. Reviews and negotiates contracts for snow removal and grass maintenance. Provides snow removal on all secondary roads and around fire hydrants. Lawn mowing on all primary and secondary roads. Planting of flowers, maintenance and lighting of 5 Corners and sign post gardens. Removal of limbs and trees throughout the year. Annual brush pick up/chipping. Repair/replacement of street signs. Pool passes for each family and maintenance of the website.
