Rules and Regulations
IACA Miss Georgia and IACA Miss Georgia Pageant 2013
- Who Can Participate:
Any woman of Indian origin (regardless of her place of birth) between the ages of 17 and 25 for IACA Miss Georgia and between 13 and 16 for IACA Miss Teen GA, inclusive (on December 31st of the year she participates), never married and never having had a child, is eligible to participate. The contestant must be a resident of the state of Georgia for at least past six months. Appropriate documentation regarding the age and residency status of the contestant must be submitted in order to meet eligibility requirements.
- Contestant Regulations:
The contestant must behave in a manner befitting the title of IACA Miss Georgia. All contestants must submit a registration fee of $20.00 (non-refundable) along with $20.00 for photo shoot and $ 20.00 for DVD of the program, totaling $60.00. All checks should be made payable to IACA-IACA Miss Georgia Pageant.
Participants from IACA member families pay just $30.00 total.
Daughters of following organizations pay only $30:
Gujrati Samaj, Shakti Mandir, GuruNanak Mission Society, SASGA, SEWA and Punjabi society
- National Contest:
The winner of IACA Miss Georgia and the IACA Miss Teen GA along with the first and second runner ups will be the only delegates of GA at the Miss India International and Miss Teen India International Pageants. If the winner gets married during her reign, the IACA Miss Georgia title will be passed on to the first runner-up for the remainder of her term.
- Judging Criteria:
Participants for the IACA Miss Georgia and IACA Miss Teen GA will be judged in the following categories:
(A)INDIAN DRESS
(B)EVENING GOWN
(C)TALENT (IACA Miss Georgia only, the top 5 participants)
(D)QUESTION AND ANSWER (Top 5 participants in both categories)
The first round of elimination will be based on the scores from the Indian Attire and Evening Gown Segments. The Top 5 participants in the IACA Miss Georgia will graduate to the Talent Category and finally the Questions and Answer Segment. However since the top 5 participants will be finalized only on the day of the pageant, it is important for each participant to have a 3 minute Talent item ready(for more details see rule #5)
The top 5 IACA Miss Teen GA contestants Based on the Indian Dress and Evening Gown will go on to the Question and Answer Round.
Upon the completion of the Question-and-Answer round, the winners will be determined based on the following:
- The highest and lowest scores for each participant in each category (Indian outfit, Western Outfit, Talent (only for IACA Miss Georgia contestants) and the Question and Answer segment) will be discarded.
- Each category will then be totaled.
- The totals from each category will be added together to arrive at the Grand Total.
- The winners will be based on the highest Grand Total.
Since IACA Miss Georgia and IACA Miss Teen GA is a conservative pageant, proper attire for all segments is mandatory. No indecent attire will be permitted. The IACA, in its sole discretion, retains the right to alter the format of the pageant. Currently, the format involves following the rules set by the Miss India World Wide pageants.
- Time Constraints:
Due to time constraints each contestant will only be allowed three (3) minutes for talent category (NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE ALLOWED TO THIS RULE). The contestant must notify the IACA of any special technical need at least two weeks prior to the pageant. THE CONTESTANT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE ANYONE ON THE STAGE DURING THE TALENT SEGMENT (I.E. MODEL, BACKUP SINGERS, ETC.).
- Judges:
Judges will be selected for IACA Miss Georgia and Miss Teen India by the IACA. They will be eminent, respected members of the Indian, American and International Community. The IACA reserves the right to appoint all such judges. THE DECISION OF THE JUDGES, ONCE TABULATED, IS FINAL. THE IACA BEARS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DECISIONS OF THE JUDGES.
- Prizes:
In the past IACA Miss Georgia and IACA Miss Teen GA winners have received round-trip tickets to the Miss India USA and Miss Teen India USA, and various gifts (i.e. jewelry, watches, electronic items, gift certificates, picture portfolios, and cash).
- Contestants:
All contestants for IACA Miss Georgia will be required to report no later than 9:00 AM on the day of the IACA Miss Georgia Pageant to be held at the location for final rehearsal. All contestants are required to attend all meetings unless other arrangements have been made in advance. Contestants are responsible for their food, transportation and lodging expenses. IACA will not be liable for any loss of properties, physical injuries or any other claims by the contestants or their parents or representatives.
The foregoing rules are subject to change by the IACA at any time. All decisions regarding the eligibility of the contestant and the conduct of the IACA Miss Georgia and IACA Miss Teen GA, in general, are subject to ultimate approval by the President of IACA. The decision of IACA President shall be final in all matters.
