Casa Nova Guest house, St John the Baptist,EinKerem, Jerusalem

Dear Presidents andColleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 34th International Workshop on Analytical Psychology in Childhood and Adolescence, which will be held in Israel. We invite all IAAP analysts and candidates, working with children and adolescents as well as those interested in better understanding the infantile mechanisms in adult patients to join us.

We would appreciate if the presidents of the national associations forward this communications to all members and candidates authorized to work clinically.

The theme of the workshop this year will be 'The body in therapy'.

In the beginning, there was not the word, rather there was the symbolic action - a union of body and psyche. Joan Chodorow

This workshop provides an opportunity to dialogue together about different aspects of the body and its representation in therapy, both in its concrete and symbolic way. What language does the body speak? Does it have a space in the room? The role of play (D.Winnicott) as a space where body and psyche meet and become one entity.Body mythology (M. Fordham) as manifestation of early physical experience of object relations; The body in dreams; Child body and analyst body; Child abuse and the body ;Body pathology as eating disorders, somatization disorders, gender identity disorder, trichotillomania, self-mutilation and others.

As always the number of participants is limited to 40. The newcomers are asked not to present clinical material. Only members of IAAP may participate. Training candidates are able to participate when introduced by a member of the same Society. The presentation of the clinical case should focus one or two sessions, drawings and dreams, and not on the entire therapeutic process.

Participants are asked to take part in the entire workshop. One-dayparticipants will not be accepted.

The workshop will take place in aFranciscan guest house Casa Nova in the shrine of Saint John the Baptist in the charming village of EinKerem, Jerusalem. This special place of solitude and contemplation offers us a wonderful opportunity for work of the psyche.

Best wishes and hoping to see you in Jerusalem, Israel
