Digital Communications Intern

The Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI)and the IU School of Medicine’sOffice of Research Affairs seek a student intern to work about 20 hours per week insupport of digital communications efforts promoting translational research at IU and partner institutions. Based at IUPUI, the Indiana CTSI is an NIH-funded research partnership among the three universities that helps biomedical researchers statewide by providing funding, services and training to advance their work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Digital Communications Intern will:

  • Develop,edit and upload SEO-friendly content to the Indiana CTSI’s website (indianactsi.org)as part of a web redesign
  • Assist in the regular production of monthly email newsletters and other email marketing campaigns in MailChimp
  • Write compelling copy for email newsletter headlines and blurbs
  • Assist in the daily management and growth of the Indiana CTSI’s social media accounts on Twitter,LinkedIn and Facebook
  • Write and schedule social media posts in Hootsuite
  • Edit and size photos/graphics for the website,email and/or social media

Depending on the chosen individual’s skills and interests,the Digital Communications Intern also may be called upon to:

  • Write stories,blogs and press releases
  • Design graphics
  • Take photos
  • Shoot video

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong writing skills and attention to detail are a must. Experience with web content management systems (especially WordPress),copy editing written content,email marketing software,representing an organization on social media,social media software,and editing/sizing images in Photoshop is strongly preferred.Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Wage: $10.50/hour

Hours: 15-20 hours/week (flexible)

Start date: ASAP; ideally before June 1, 2018. Successful interns may be able to extend their internship for multiple semesters.
