Road Safety (Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations 2004
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1.Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 1999 to—
(a)make amendments that are consequential upon the commencement of certain provisions of the Road Management Act 2004; and
(b)substitute the reference to the Load Restraint Guide in regulation 802(2) with an updated reference to that guide.
2.Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.
3.Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on 1 July 2004.
4.Definitions
In regulation 105(1) of the Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 1999[1], for the definition of "freeway" substitute—
' "freeway" has the same meaning as in the Road Management Act 2004;'.
5.Amendment of reference to revised Load Restraint Guide
In regulation 802(2) of the Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 1999, for ' "Load Restraint Guide" published by the Australian Government Publishing Service on 12 December 1994' substitute "Load Restraint Guide Second Edition 2004 published by the National Transport Commission".
6.Fees for registration and renewal of registration
In item 2 in the Table in Schedule 4 to the Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 1999, for paragraph (a)(ii) substitute—
"(ii)not declared as freeways or arterial roads under the Road Management Act 2004; or".
7.Definitions in Schedule 8
In clause 3 of Schedule 8 to the Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 1999, in the definition of "transport enforcement vehicle", for paragraph (b) substitute—
"(b)the Transport Act 1983; or
(c)the Road Management Act 2004;".
