Supervisors Report:
- Sam has learned that the residents of our township will need to go through the General assistance program of McHenry Township first, and then apply for emergency relief through us. We have a resident now, who will be going through the process.
There is a Case study program available that will run background checks on the applicants for a fee of $50.00. Considering the time and the resources needed, the board members feel the fee is well worth the cost.
- Illinois Dept. of Licensing has asked that we pay a fee of $150.00 to make the Cole cemetery exempt. We will not be responsible for further documentation of ownership in the future.
- Our Township Assessor, Eugene, was considering resigning in 2013. Supervisor Jones, spoke with Bob Ross, chef assessor of McHenry County, and Carol of the McHenry township regarding Eugene’s resignation and how it is bad timing with the re election. After discussing the situation, Eugene has decided to continue on with his position at this time. He would like to maintain his role as the assessor as long as he isphysically and personally able to fill the obligation.
Road Commissioners Report:
- Commissioner Sutton says that it has been quiet because of the lack of snow.
Assessors Report:
- Eugene responded to approximately 9 Home Assessments Inquires.
- Permits issued: 1 Deck, 1 Fence 1 Build out, & 1 Sign.
- Home Sales: 1 Arms Length.
- Eugene has completed approximately 200 Residential Assessment appeals for 2012.
- No permits were received from McHenry County at this time.
Clerks Report:
No report at this time.
Trustees Report:
- Trustee George Keim did some research on his own, to find that there are no grants available, for anyone who may be relying on them.
- George also shared with us the fact that Burton Township is the smallest in Illinois when measuring geographically. However, when measuring by population, we are in the middle of 17 counties; 8 being larger and 8 smaller.
This information verifies the excessive work our Township Assessor has.
New Business:
No report at this time.
Old Business:
