(Narrator, Dr. Luke, enters from center aisle by Commons with lapel microphone and strides down):

Oh, my, my; what a big group of boys and girls I have been sent to help! I had better hurry in; I know they are waiting to tell their family and friends the very special story about Jesus's birth. (stands in front center)

(Goes up to a pre-arranged 3,4/5 yr old

Hello, I am Dr. Luke, may I shake your hand?"(when child says yes, he grasps foot and shakes; What? You say this is not your hand? Oh, yes, you are right; I must be tired from my long trip.”

I think I hear an unusual heartbeat; I had better listen - I think it is coming from over here (Dr. Luke goes to another pre-arranged child and puts stethoscope on head to listen). Hmm this still does not sound right. Oh yes, thank you for reminding me, here is where I need to listen. What do I hear? And I am hearing it all over this room, why it is hearts beating for Jesus.

What Can I Give Him? (Gds 3/4 sing)

(Narrator, Dr. Luke):

Now, where was I; Oh, yes I am here to help you tell a most wonderful story of the events around Jesus’s birth. First we will start with a baby who grew up to tell people to get ready for Jesus.

Reading #1 (Cody) (Zechariah and Elizabeth stand on stage)

In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth. They both loved God and had served him many years. One day an angel appeared to Zechariah. The angel told him that he and Elizabeth would have a baby boy and that they should name him John. This was very good news to them because they had no children yet. But Zechariah did not believe the angel. The angel said because Zechariah did not believe this good news he would not be able to speak until the baby was born.

Reading #2 (Julie)(Elizabeth with baby, Zechariah with tablet down come out)

For a long time Zechariah was not able to speak. Then baby John was born. The neighbors and relatives were happy for Zechariah and Elizabeth and expected her to name the baby Zechariah after his father. But Elizabeth shook her head and said "No". Then Zechariah held up his tablet and to everyone's surprise it said, "His name is John!" He could speak again! Baby John was like a cousin to baby Jesus. Baby John grew up to be a man who told people to get ready for Jesus.

(Actors at correct time: Elizabeth shakes head and hand “No! as she holds baby”

Zechariah holds up tablet – His Name is John; raises hands in praise; when congregational song starts, Zechariah and Elizabeth out; Meagan changes into angel)

(Narrator, Dr. Luke)

Well, after baby John was born, then it was Jesus turn. Here is the story about how his mother, Mary, was told she was going to be Jesus’s mother.

Reading #3 (Cody) (Mary kneels as angel holds arms up towards and kind of over her)

The same angel visited a young girl named Mary who lived in a town called Nazareth. The angel said,"You are going to have a special baby. His name will be Jesus. Jesus will be God's Son". Mary did not understand how this could be, but she accepted what the angel said. Later when it was time for baby Jesus to be born, Mary and her husband Joseph had to travel to another town, Bethlehem. It was such a busy time in Bethlehem the only room left was a stable with the animals. This is where baby Jesus was born. (Mary and angel go out temporarily)

At the temple there was a godly man, Simeon, who was so happy to be able to hold baby Jesus. God had told Simeon that this baby was the Messiah who would make all people right with God.
