Job Title:Bromley Outreach Practitioner
Reports to:Outreach ASC Service Manager
Job Purpose:
To be responsible for the day-to-day management of your service according to the philosophy, mission, vision and values of Burgess Autistic Trust.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead, manage, support, supervise and develop the staff team and manage other organisational resources (time, people, financial, materials, equipment, buildings and information) to deliver your service according to established policies and procedures, seeking always to achieve value for money within the resources available.
Ensure that the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for your service, agreed with your line manager, include SMART goals and objectives and address all relevant statutory, contractual, health and safety obligations and requirements. Translate the agreed KPIs into operational work plans for staff. Ensure that your staff remain aware of expected standards and procedures, and observe them in their work. Monitor delivery and manage staff within an agreed performance management framework, including regular supervision and appraisal.
Continuously appraise the effectiveness of the operational processes and procedures for your service and make recommendations for improvement.
Maintain accurate records relating to your service, for example, finance, medication, personal care plans, care management, accidents and untoward incidents, and make reports, as required, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and procedures
Manage and monitor activity and financial budgets of your service, with the objective of delivering high quality services efficiently and within the available resources, highlighting any areas of concern promptly.
Provide operational reports to senior managers, as required, about the delivery of your service, including an explanation of variances from expected performance and your plans to recover the situation.
Plan and conduct regular staff meetings for your staff and ensure that your staff have regular feedback on their own performance and the performance of your service overall, and opportunities to make their views known.
Ensure effective verbal and written communications to, from and within your service, ensuring appropriate, accurate content.
Uphold, safeguard and promote the organisation’s philosophy, mission, vision, values and corporate responsibilities, and ensure that all staff fully understand the need to promote equality of opportunity and observe a duty of care, ethical behaviour, high personal integrity and absolute confidentiality.
Remain familiar with and ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, for your service for example, contractual deliverables, service level agreements and funding arrangements with particular conditions attached.
Remain familiar with and ensure compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, for example, Health & Safety Executive and Care Quality Commission requirements for your service.
Undertake comprehensive formal risk assessments and review them on a regular, programmed basis and whenever there is a change in the operating environment e.g. when a new Service User takes up the service
Take a lead role in the recruitment and retention of high quality staff and volunteers in consultation with senior managers, as appropriate, and with the professional and administrative support of the human resources department.
Take responsibility for planning, implementing and facilitating effective induction and training programmes for all new staff within the first 12 weeks of employment
Maintain your own skill levels and promote a culture of learning and training within your service; ensure that your staff acquire and maintain the skills required for their role and encourage staff to further develop their skills and fulfil their potential. Ensure your staff provides relevant certificates of qualification and competence immediately on appointment or when new skills are acquired.
Develop and market your service; prepare outline business cases for service development and additional investment, as required.
Participate on BAT and external committees, as required; attend training and external meetings, as required, to maintain skills; promote the service and develop effective networks throughout the community.
