This course uses a structured and scientific approach to the investigation of crimes of assault, abuse and neglect, domestic violence, accidental death, homicide, and the psychology of criminal behavior. Students will learn terminology and investigative procedures related to crime scene, questioning, interviewing, criminal behavior characteristics, truth detection, and scientific procedures used to solve crimes. Using scientific methods, students will collect and analyze evidence through case studies and simulated crime scenes such as fingerprint analysis, ballistics, and blood spatter analysis. Students will learn the history, legal aspects, and career options for forensic science.
Grading Determination:
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th 6 weeks period
60% for test scores and major grades
40% for daily in class assignments which includes quizzes, participation and notebook organization
Extra credit work will be available through out the year as seen needed by the teacher.
Late Work:
I will accept late work with a ten point per day deduction for 1st 3 days
Reteach /Retest Procedure:
Students may re-test on any major grade test
Students Absence Procedures:
Students are required to contact the teacher for any missed work. Tests will be given at the teacher availability.
Tutoring schedule will be posted outside the classroom door (Mon., Tue., and Thurs. 2:30-4:00). Students will be expected to make-up all work that is missed. They will have the same number of days to make-up work as the number of days absent. The grade may be reduced by ten points for each of the first three days the work is late but this will be dependent upon a student/teacher conference when the student returns.
