Market

CTC Leaf: There was good but lower demand as against the previous week. Select best Assams sold at firm levels whilst other good liquoring Assams were irregular around last levels with quality. The remainder, especially medium category teas which were plainer liquoring and brownish in appearance, were easier. Good and medium Dooars were a firm market whilst Dooars in the plainer category were around last levels.

CTC Dust: There was good demand with select good liquoring Assams selling around last levels whilst the remainder was barely steady to irregularly easier, especially browner leaf descriptions which were further discounted. The nominal weight of Dooars on offer sold at firm rates.

M/s Hindustan Unilever continued active in both markets on good liquoring Assams whilst M/s Tata Global Beverages remained quite selective in both the leaf and dust sales. The Western India segment operated on brighter liquoring Assams. The Export segment extended useful support on larger brokens, fannings and some dusts. There was some enquiry from regional packeteers/other blenders on plainer teas whilst the local segment was active on the cross-section of Dooars on offer.
