Presentation of the recent developments on the new Regulation on Pesticide Statistics and the implications of its implementation for the Commission and the MemberStates, including the needs for pesticide risk indicators as expressed in the Framework Directive on the sustainable use of pesticides and in the context of agri-environment indicators. / EUROSTAT
3.Pesticide risk indicators for the EU
3.1.Harmonised pesticide risk indicators
The evaluation of the results of the HAIR project will be presented with a view to the further developments required for their implementation by the Commission and the MemberStates. / ARCADIS
3.2.The Dutch plan for finalising the HAIR indicators
Presentation of Alterra's plans integrating Arcadis' conclusions to improve and finalise the HAIR software for a selected set of indicators. / ALTERRA
3.3.A model for pesticide fate assessment
Presentation of a modelling approach of pesticide fate and the assessment of the risk for soil and water in the EU / DG JRC
3.4.Footways
Presentation of the FOOTPRINT tools to assess the risk of transfer of pesticides into water at different geographical scales. / FOOTWAYS
3.5.Implementation of pesticide risk indicators
The three presentations will be followed by a discussion on the complementarities between the different approaches and on a possible agreement on a restricted list of useful indicators.
4.National pesticide risk indicator
  • PestNaB: Presentation of pesticide risk indicator developed at national level in Denmark
  • Indicators for sustainable plant protection in Belgium
  • The risk assessment model SYNOPS and its approach in the frame of a general indicator set for sustainable plant protection in Germany
  • The UK approach to pesticide risk indicators
The presentations will be followed by a discussion on the interest to develop national approaches for the assessment of pesticide risk and their compatibility with an EU approach. / DK

5.Plans for the implementation of the pesticide statistics regulation and for the adoption of pesticide risk indicators
A work plan for the finalisation and formal adoptionby the Commission of pesticide risk indicators will be discussed with a special attention to a possible coordination with the working group for the pesticide thematic strategy.
