Grand Jury Hears Multiple Charges of Credit Card Theft
Criminal District Attorney Richard Glaser reports that on Thursday, June 18, 2015, the Grand Jury met for an extended session. Two individuals used influence to target the less powerful, and through multiple thefts extracted thousands of dollars from their victims. In all, the Grand Jury reviewed evidence in seventy-six (76) cases returning seventy-one (71) True Bills of indictment and passing five (5) cases for review next session. The Fannin County Grand Jury has returned 254 true bills of indictment so far in 2015.
It is important to note that an indictment is a formal charge and should not be considered as evidence of guilt and that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Grand Jury also accepted the Annual Road Report from each of the Fannin County Commissioners. These road reports are a public record and also filed with the Commissioners Court each year. Section 251.005 of the Local Government Code provides Commissioner’s Road Report –
(a) A county commissioner serving as a road supervisor shall make a sworn annual report during the ninth month of the county fiscal year on a form approved by the commissioners court showing:
(1) The condition of each road or part of a road and of each culvert and bridge in the commissioner’s precinct;
(2) The amount of money reasonably necessary for maintenance of the roads in the precinct during the next county fiscal year;
(3) The number of traffic control devices in the precinct defaced or torn down;
(4) Any new road that should be opened in the precinct; and
(5) Any bridges, culverts, or other improvements necessary to place the roads in the precinct in good condition, and the probable cost of the improvements.
(b) The report shall be entered in the minutes of the commissioners court to be considered in improving public roads and determining the amount of taxes imposed for public roads.
