1. State reason why you wish to deregister your vehicle. Include the time period and location of where the vehicle will be parked. Include the license plate number, serial number, make, model, year, and color of vehicle you wish to deregister for repairs.

2. I understand that upon receiving a parking permit from the Joint Service Vehicle Registration Office, I must properly display the permit in the windshield of the vehicle. If I reside off base, an Inkan Stamp will be required from my Landlord.

Deregistration for repair allows the vehicle owner to deregister a vehicle and park it, on or off base, for an extended period so repairs can be made.

Owners with other vehicles registered in their name will have drivers license, American insurance, Japanese insurance, and Government of Japan inspection data checked for currency. Vehicle owners unable to complete updates due to lack of documentation will not have their request to deregister for repair accepted until all updates are completed.

Prerequisites:

The request must be typed on the owner’s unit letterhead and endorsed by the Commanding Officer. (NOTE: NO ENLISTED MEMBER MY SIGN) (O5 and above are exempt from this requirement).

The request must state:

  • The reason why you wish to deregister your vehicle
  • Time period of deregistration
  • Location where your vehicle will be parked
  • License plate number
  • Serial number
  • Make
  • Model
  • Year
  • Color of your vehicle.

Any request to deregister a vehicle for over 30 days must have a second endorsement by the CampCommander or Landlord (if you reside off base) where the vehicle will be parked.

Air Force personnel that reside on Kadena Air Base must be endorsed by their Unit Commander.

Personnel from other services that reside on Kadena Air Base must be endorsed by the 18th Security Forces Squadron Commander.

The owner must present the license plates and original documents (Japanese Title, Military RegistrationCertificate,current Road Tax Receipt & decal, Japanese Compulsory Insurance, and Property Damage Insurance) for the vehicle that is to be deregisteredat the time of the waiver approval.

The owner cannot have a lien on the vehiclethat is to be deregistered.
