The most famous of the frontiersmen was Daniel Boone. Born in 1734, he lived when most of North America was still inhabited by Native Americans. For much of his life Boone hunted and traveled through the forestland of Kentucky. In 1773, he tried to move his family there, but Native Americans attacked and his son was killed.
