MANDI MASTIN RACE REPORT
1ST Rnd. National Enduro
Salley, South Carolina
This weekend I traveled down to Salley, SC for the 1st round of the National Enduro Series. The weather was perfect, sunny clear skies with temperatures in the mid 70’s to lower 80’s. This is much different from what I have been used to the past couple of months. Coming from Northern Ohio, our high temperature over the past 2-3 months has been in the 30’s and plenty of snow to blanket the ground all winter!
Needless to say, I was happy to get south to not only to throw a leg over the bike and get some seat time, but also to debut my new sponsorship. I am excited to announce that over the winter break I have put together a sponsorship deal with Husqvarna and Hall’s Cycle out of Springfield, IL. I will be racing the 2011 TXCi 250 4-stroke at all the National Enduros, GNCC’s and the ISDE. Not only is Husqvarna and Hall’s Cycle involved in the enduros and harescrambles, they are both big supporters of the ISDE (International Six Days Enduro), which plays a big role in my racing career. It feels good to have a company and manufacturer that really supports and understands what you do! I am excited for this year and confident that the partnership between myself, Husqvarna and Hall’s Cycle will lead to plenty of successful outcomes throughout this 2011 season!
Sunday was really the first time that I got to ride the bike. So not only was I racing, I was also testing and setting the bike up throughout the day. I started the first couple of sections a little slow, but the second half of the day I progressed, getting a little more comfortable and acquainted with the machine. At the end of the day, I managed to pull out a 1st place finish in the Women’s A class! I was pretty stoked to be able to get on a new bike and get a 1st place finish, all in the same day!
