CERT Radio Exercise 1
SUMMARY OF CURRENT ACTIONS
All CERT personnel attending this class by now have:
1)Logged in and signed the attendance sheet
2)Been assigned to a team, either RED, GREEN, BLUE or YELLOW
3)Numbered off ONE through FIVE (ideally) and not more than SEVEN to maintain an adequate SPAN OF CONTROL!
4)Appointed a TEAM LEADER who is receiving THIS BRIEFING
5)TEAM LEADER has received a written copy of the EXERCISE BRIEF
INCIDENT OBJECTIVES:
1)Select a “working” radio channel for YOUR team
2)Go back to into the classroom and collect your teams.
3)Team members deploy to their designated assembly area as shown in the map sketch
At Gov’tCenter:RED – Bus shelter
BLUE – USPS Mail box
GREEN – Wood bench located between two trash cans
YELLOW – Fire hydrant nearest building entrance
At MasonDistrict:RED – Fire Hydrant nearest building entrance
BLUE – Tree in inland at SW corner of parking lot
GREEN – NE corner parking lot near handicapped spaces
YELLOW – SE corner of parking lot, gate in fence at storm drain
4)Team Leaders assemble at the flagpole area in front of the building.
5)Team leaders conduct a radio check with all team members, then ask:
a) Who has spare batteries for their FRS radio with them NOW?
b) Does anyone have a ham radio or GRMS license? If so what is your license call sign?
c) Who has a current certification for Adult CPR and/or AED. When does it expire?
6)Team leaders contact Logistics on channel 4.
7)When your team is called give your report. An example follows next page:
“Command, this is Red Leader, Snow White, Red Team has seven members,
Red 1 Dopey forgot his batteries, but he is OK now
Red 2 Grumpy, no license or cert, has 2 sets of batteries, sharing one with Dopey
Red 3 Doc, 2 sets batteries ham license N3DOC, CPR with AED expires 11-08
Red 4 Bashful, one set batteries in radio, no license or cert, PTT doesn’t work, but he can listen, is a fast note taker and has volunteered to be our net logger.
Red 5 Sneezy, one set of batteries in his radio, no license or cert, rough copy because has a cold
Red 6 Sleepy has one set of batteries in his radio and is resting for the next operational period
Red 7 Happy brought enough Energizers with him to supply “The World,” GMRS license WQAX587, CPR with AED expires 12-08.
