3D Force-SensingTechnology Secures Corporate Vision 2016 Technology Innovator Awards for Peratech
Richmond, Yorkshire – 13 September 2016. Corporate Vision Magazine names Peratech as winner of two 2016 Technology Innovator Awards
Peratech is proud to have receivedtwo awards in different categories at the Corporate Vision 2016 Technology Innovator Awards. The company scooped Best Force-Sensing HMI (Human to Machine Interface) /MMI (Machine to Machine Interface) Solutions Company (UK) for providing next-generation touch and haptics solutions to some of the most exciting and innovative global companies. It also won the Corporate Vision Innovation Award: QTC SP Sensors in recognition of its 19 years of development expertise in applied QTC-basedmaterials. Quantum Tunnelling Composites add a level of control, reliability, and range to create real-world tactile or force-based experiences that otherwise would not exist.
The 2016 Technology Innovator Awards, which are in their second year, aredesigned to recognise and reward the individuals, departments, and firms behind the ground-breaking developments that change the way business is done for the better.
Jon Stark, CEO of Peratech, commented, “We are delighted to win not just one but two awards and be acknowledged as a leader in force-sensing HMI/MMI innovations. We have a whole range of exciting and diverse applications in the pipeline using our unique QTC technology which will make a huge impact in the automotive, industrial, musical instrument, electronic appliance, and consumer electronics markets.”
Peratech’s force sensors bring a new dimension to touch controls. A QTC material changes its electrical resistance based on how much force or pressure you apply to it—from light touch to hard press. Our current ink formulations promote quantum tunnelling through certain semiconductive nanoparticles that arecarefully blended with other particles in a polymer binder that makes the resulting force sensors durable and reliable at high and low temperatures, and in high-humidity conditions. For HMI designers, Peratech’stechnology solutions offer unrivalled creative freedom and opportunities for product differentiation. Said Stark, “QTC-based force sensors enable designers to transform the user experience of their products through smart buttons, panels, and displays. The result: more enjoyable and more valuable products because when you have a technology that mimics real life, it disappears and all consumers see is a product that enriches their lives.”
It is not the first time Peratech has been recognised by leading organisations as the company holds multiple awards including the “BBC Tomorrow’s World Industry Award,” the “Queen’s Innovation Award,” the “Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards,” and the “World-wide Innovation Award” from Saatchi & Saatchi.
About Peratech
Based on patented Quantum Tunnelling Composite (QTC®) technology, Peratech’s force sensors bring a new dimension to tactile, or force-touch controls. QTC materials change from being an almost perfect insulator to becoming increasingly conductive in proportion to the amount of force applied to them. The materials are very robust and resilient, so that changes in resistance due to even the slightest pressure are both predictable and repeatable over more than a million cycles.
For designers of human machine interfaces (HMI), QTC technology offers unrivalled creative freedom and opportunities for product differentiation in both ergonomics and aesthetics. It makes touch buttons, panels and displays far easier to use.
Peratech’s award-winning, thin and flexible QTC sensors come in single-point, 3D single-touch, and 3D multi-touch versions. They can be used above, below or around rigid or flexible displays, or under metal, plastic, wood, or glass surfaces. The QTC touch experience is intuitive, consistent, precise, durable and reliable, whatever the environment, even when using gloved fingers or in the presence of moisture.
The diverse applications for QTC force sensors include consumer and automotive electronics, smart home systems and appliances, and industrial controls. Over a million devices around the world now employ the technology. Peratech’s custom design and integration service minimises both cost and time-to-market. The company also offers a range of standard products. Peratech Holdco Ltd. is a privately held company based in Richmond, Yorkshire, UK.
