VISION

St Luke’s Vision is of a world where everyone with a terminal illness can access the care, treatment and support they need to live well, know that their family and carers are supported, and die with dignity in the place of their choice.

Everything we do is about people and relationships, and the community we serve is one of the most culturally diverse in the UK.

BACKGROUND TO THIS ROLE

This is a great opportunity for an experienced candidate to join the fundraising team at this well established Hospice. The postholder will be responsible for developing and implementing a Major Donor strategy and achieving ambitious but realistic income growth targets. Whilst some initial progress has been made this is a new role and so there is real scope to design and develop the Major Donor programme. The CEO, trustees and Senior Management Team are committed to playing an active part in the development of this income stream - and both they and the fundraising team are looking forward to working with the successful candidate to achieve this.

With our 30th anniversary approaching and a number of VIP events already planned, this is an exciting time to join St Luke’s. We are also currently developing our services to care for more patients, including younger people, non cancer patients, and people at an earlier stage of their illness. Our new Woodgrange Day Care facility has made possible a number of new projects likely to appeal to prospective major donors.

St Luke’s has a strong and rapidly growing donor base and a good track record of raising funds, particularly through legacy, trusts and events fundraising. The hospice recently invested in a wealth screening exercise which yielded a larger number of prospects with the capacity and propensity to make major gifts. This new post will focus on developing and stewarding this portfolio of prospects, and identifying and cultivating new prospects.

We are looking for a dynamic individual who enjoysbuilding relationships, ‘Making the Ask’, formulating an effective ‘case for support’ and working to ambitious targets.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We are seeking a highly skilled Major Donor fundraiserto join St Luke’s fundraising team.

For the right candidate we are willing to be flexible in terms of the working hours – from a minimum of 21 hours (spread over three to five days) to a full time role of 37.5 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work will be required for which time off in lieu can be arranged.
