We are looking forward to your input and contribution on 1st and 2nd October. The theme of the SET awayday event is ‘Working together strategically’ and we’re at the Burford Bridge Hotel in Dorking, which looks lovely and is well-recommended. Please arrive late morning on Thursday 1st October for lunch at 12 noon and we will depart after lunch on Friday 2nd. www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-6635-mercure-burford-bridge-hotel-boxhill/index.shtml

There are two preliminary tasks for all of us to do in preparation for the session - due to be completed by 21 September:

·  Online engagement survey (the results will be feedback anonymously/ collectively) – I shall send you the link shortly.

·  Responding to 5 initial questions to help formulate ideas and responses as we look to improving results and delivering high performance.

(These are both being administered anonymously and confidentially by learnpurple)

At the event, directors will present the work we have done thus far on incorporating our current business plan deliverables and performance objectives, designed to deliver against the current MFS strategic outcomes, which are:

·  Transforming Customer Service,

·  Reduced Impact on Climate Change and the Environment

·  Improved Efficiency and Capability

Presentations from directors will cover the outputs from the business planning work we have undertaken to date - seeking your input/ exchange of ideas on the following issues:

·  What I’ve done so far

·  What I need from colleagues

·  What I plan to do next

·  What I need from staff

This is a flexible, two-way process, with contribution and responses required from everyone. We need to focus on your (Assistant Directors’) role as a bridge between staff groups and the leadership team. There will be tough times ahead and we all need to operate a firm but fair management style.

Feedback we are seeking from you at the event:

·  Comments on what you have heard: Does what we’ve presented seem about right?

·  Any issues that need to be addressed?

·  What contribution do you think you can make?

And importantly

·  What might be different for our 20010/ 2011 plan?

We’re looking for you to make the journey with us and the commitment from us to you is that things will continue to change around here. We can achieve a lot by working together strategically.

Many thanks

The Leadership team
