Hello Fieldwork Educators,
Following another very successful event last spring, we are preparing to host another pair of exclusive Fieldwork Educator Certificate Training Programs here at Jefferson. Jefferson will provide full scholarships to selected fieldwork educators who work with or plan to work with Jefferson fieldwork students. Tuition (value of $225 for AOTA members, $359 for nonmembers) will be covered by Jefferson. Whether you are a new grad, or have supervised students for years, this course is interesting and valuable, and counts as 15 contact hours toward your continuing education requirements for both licensure and NBCOT.
Our goal is to “give back” to our alumni and FW educators, while enhancing the skills of our clinical community and the quality of fieldwork education in the Philadelphia region. In addition we are looking to develop long-term relationships and expand the number of reservations for level I and level II fieldwork placements with occupational therapists committed to fieldwork education and Jefferson students.
In return for your full scholarship, we ask that all participants commit to accepting two level II students for the 2015 year, and two level I students for the 2014 year.
And remember, the Pennsylvania licensure law now requires the following "All licensed occupational therapists will need to verify completion of a minimum of 24 contact hours of acceptable continued competency activities when the license is renewed in 2015". Fieldwork educators can receive contact hours for supervising FWI students – 1 contact hour per FWI student. Fieldwork educators can receive contact hours for supervising FWI students – 1 unit per week of FWII student supervision. So – WOW - if you do the math, the 15 hours for the course and 12 hours for just one level II fieldwork student more than meets the requirement!

IF YOU WORK AT A FACILITY WHERE SOMEONE OTHER THAN YOU IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING THE STUDENT PROGRAM, MAKE SURE YOU OBTAIN THEIR APPROVAL FIRST.
