New!North Wing ‘K’ Lift
North Wing ‘K’ lift will be out of action for circa 3 weeks whilst parts are being manufactured, delivered and then repair works undertaken. The lift is due back into service by the end of July 2017.
New!Electrical Periodic Inspections
Every summer we carry out inspections and tests on our electrical infrastructure throughout the campus, this is carried out as a rolling 5 year plan to minimise disruption. This year the following areas are planned for inspection and testing:-
- South Wing = 24/07/2017 till 04/08/2017
- EBRI = 17/07/2017 till21/07/2017
- Woodcock Sports Centre (swimming pool only) = 04/08/2017
- Vision Science = 07/08/2017 till 11/08/2017
These works are a legal requirement and involve the loss of power to individual rooms and areas one at a time for about 1-2 hours to check the status of the installation. This will unfortunately mean that offices and labs may need to be vacated to carry out some works. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

ANNUAL ASBESTOS SURVEY
Colleagues
ECD maintainrecords of all of Asbestos Containing Materials which are located throughout the site, in addition we inspect these on an annual basis in order to update our risk register.
These annual inspections are due to be carried out week commencing 22nd May 2017 and will take approximately 2 weeks to complete.
The work will be carried out by qualified surveyors from Bradley Environmental. They are only required to carry out visual inspection and as such there is no danger to any occupants of the buildings or rooms.
The surveyors will be wearing Bradley Environmental corporate workwear incorporating their company logo and will have an AU authorisation to work pass on display.
Surveyors are instructed to knock before entering and to make arrangements directly with the occupier to return at a later stage if necessary, however asthis is only a visual inspection and should take no longer than a few minutes I would appreciate it if you allow the surveyor to complete this task on the first visit if possible.
Please be aware that the Surveyor will be given access to unoccupied offices and areas,if this for reasons of confidentiality this really cannot be allowed please provide me with the details of the room and times when accompanied access can be granted.
Will anyone that hasa unique lock fitted to an area (rooms with non-suited keys), please make the whereabouts of the keyknown by calling the ECD Health & Safety Advisor Colin Tuck on 0121 204 4340 or Email – .If after reasonable efforts to obtain a key access stillcannot be achieved, then the ECD Carpenters will be asked to gain access, which usually involves drilling the lock.
I would like to thankyou in anticipation of your co-operation with this very important activity.
Colin Tuck. ECD Health & Safety Advisor
