Role reports to: Business Support Manager
Job Purpose:
To record and monitor pupil attendance, liaising with parents, school staff and Swindon Borough
Council Officers to assist the improvement of pupil attendance at school.
Provide administrative support to EOTAS
Key Accountabilities:
1. Attendance:
  • Check pupil attendance on a daily basis
  • Maintain and update register of attendance in SIMS (School Information Management System) daily ensuring detailed and accurate information is recorded
  • Telephone parents of absent pupils on a daily basis ensuring detailed and appropriate records are kept on SIMS
  • Liaise with the Educational Welfare Service and Centre Manager regarding attendance
  • Ensure all documentation and letters are sent in accordance with the attendance policy
2. Order pupil lunches
3. Provide administrative services to staff
4. Deputise in periods of absence ,other administrative duties carried out by the EOTAS
support team
Other Duties:
  1. Any other duties required by the Business Support Manager which is within the scope of this post.

This post is based at Stratton Education Centre, however it may require deployment over other EOTAS sites at the discretion of the Head Teacher
Knowledge and Experience:
  • Educated to at least GCSE A-C English and Maths
  • Substantial office experience, preferably in a school environment
  • Knowledge of and ability to relate to pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Excellent IT skills especially in Word and database (SIMS) packages
  • Ability to maintain excellent pupil / parent and colleague relationships

Decision Making:
In conjunction with Centre Manager as required (Attendance)
In conjunction with the Business Support Manager for all administrative duties

Health and Safety:

In accordance with the provisions of the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 you must take reasonable care so as not to endanger yourself or other persons whilst at work. You must also co-operate with the Council to enable it to comply with its statutory duties for health and safety.
You must work in accordance with training or instructions given, make proper use of any personal protective equipment provided and inform your line manager of any hazardous situations or risks of which you are aware.
You must ensure you undertake responsibilities relating to your position as detailed within your Directorate Health and Safety Policy.
