1.4.2 Product Data: Submit manufacturer's product data and technical bulletins including materials, profiles, physical properties, and accessories for each product to be used, including:

1.4.2.2 Manufacturing materials and additives.

1.4.2.3 Preparation instructions and recommendations.

1.4.2.4 Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.

1.4.3 Shop Drawings: Include the following:

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

1.5.1 Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 5 years experience manufacturing similar products.

1.5.2 Installer Qualifications: Minimum 2 years experience installing similar products of the scope and complexity required for this project.

1.5.3 Pre-Installation Meeting: Convene at the project site a minimum of two weeks prior to starting work of this section to verify project requirements, substrate conditions, installation instructions and manufacturer's warranty requirements.

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

1.6.1 Comply with manufacturer's ordering instructions and lead time requirements to avoid construction delays.

1.6.2 Deliver products in manufacturer's unopened packaging bearing the brand name and manufacturer's identification until ready for installation.

1.6.3 Store and handle materials in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions to avoid damage.

1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS

1.7.1 Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

1.8 WARRANTY

1.8.1 Warranty: Manufacturer's standard warranty that products will maintain performance values.

1.8.1.1 Warranty Period: Ten years.

2.1 MANUFACTURERS

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Shelter Enterprises R-3 OSB and R-5 OSB wall sheathing panels are the one step solution to combine wall sheathing and continuous insulation in conventional light wood-framed walls.

2.2 CONTINUOUS INSULATED STRUCTURAL SHEATHING PANELS

2.2.1 Insulated Sheathing Panels: Expanded polystyrene, closed cell, light-weight, resilient foamed plastic composed of hydrogen and carbon atoms bonded to oriented strand board (OSB) with a PS-2 span rating.

2.2.1.1 Compressive Strength (ASTM D1621): 20 psi.

2.2.1.2 Flame Spread of Foam Core (ASTM E84): Less than 20.

2.2.1.3 Smoke Developed for Foam Core (ASTM E84): 150-300.

2.2.1.4 Water Vapor Permeance (ASTM E96): 3.5.

2.2.1.5 Mold Resistance of Core (ASTM C1338): Pass.

2.2.1.6 Does not act as a vapor barrier.

2.2.1.7 Thickness:

2.2.1.7.1 Shelter R-3 OSB: 1-1/16 inches (27 mm).

2.3 ACCESSORlES

2.3.1 Adhesive: PL 300 or equal foam board adhesive.

2.3.2 Fasteners: Hot dipped galvanized.

2.3.2.1 Length: As required to penetrate 1-1/2 inches (38 mm) into stud.

2.3.2.2 Minimum Shank Diameter: 0.131 inches (3 mm).

2.3.3 Air Barrier: See Section 07 62 00 - Sheet Metal Flashing and Trim.

3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

3.1.1 Examine and measure installation areas prepared to receive insulated sheathing to confirm conditions are within the manufacturer's limits.

3.1.2 Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.

3.1.3 If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2 PREPARATION

3.2.1 Verify surrounding construction, dimensions, and other conditions which would affect installation.

3.2.2 Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.3 INSTALLATION

3.3.1 Install in accordance with the manufacturer's current published instructions, and details and drawings issued for the project.

3.3.1.1 Conflicts between the manufacturer instructions and project documents shall be resolved in writing prior to installation.

3.3.2 Arrange to minimize joints and cutouts to fit tightly against adjacent construction.

3.3.2.1 Solid framing or blocking is required behind all panel edges.

3.3.2.2 Vertical joints must be located over and supported by framing members or structural components acceptable to the project engineer.

3.3.2.3 Butt joints wider than 1/8 inch (3mm) will not be accepted.

3.3.3 Install required strapping, specified for wind uplift, directly to the framing, before sheathing is installed.

3.3.4 Install a bead of adhesive to studs, place polystyrene foam directly against the framing.

3.3.5 Fasten tightly to building structure until screw heads are flush with the surface but do not cut into facing materials. Unless otherwise specified, fasten using a 4 inch (102 mm) perimeter, 8 inch (203 mm) field nailing pattern, 7/16 inch (11 mm) from edges and 2 inches (51 mm) from corners.

3.3.6 Coordinate construction sequence with installation of flashing, air barriers, and other adjacent materials provided by others to prevent exterior moisture from entering or passing through completed assemblies.

3.4 CLEANING

3.4.1 Remove all excess and waste materials from the job site in accordance with the Owner's construction waste management requirements.

3.5 PROTECTION

3.5.1 Repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
