Demonstrate knowledge of hand tools used for roofing.
Rangeapron, rule, pencils, measuring tapes, chalk line, string line, hacksaw and blades, 12 inch snips (gilbows), aviation snips (left, right), pop riveter, level, hand saw, chisels, folding pliers, sealant gun, cutting knife, claw hammer, screwdrivers, adjustable spanner, pliers,stapler, tool box.
Evidence requirements
1.1Use of tools is described in terms of their function and use.
1.2Care and maintenance of tools are described in accordance with industry practice.

1.3Safe use of tools is described in terms of site procedures.
Rangeincludes but is not limited to – hazards and risks, injury to users and others, damage to materials and tools.
Outcome 2
Demonstrate knowledge of portable power tools used for roofing.
Rangeincludes but is not limited to – battery drill, tec screw drill, hammer drill, circular saw, router, airless spray unit, belt sander, blower, vacuum, heat gun.
Evidence requirements
2.1Use of portable power tools is described in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and industry practice.
2.2Set-up of portable power tools is described in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and industry practice.
2.3Care and maintenance of portable power tools is described in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and industry practice.
Rangeincludes but is not limited to – blades, knives, bits, cutting edges; adjustment, cleaning, power source, guards.
2.4Safe use of portable power tools is described in accordance with site procedures.
