ELIZABETH LANGE/MICROSOFT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Scott Lange, then Risk Manager for Microsoft, to honor in perpetuity the exceptional family and community contributions of his wife, established the Elizabeth Lange/Microsoft Scholarship in 1998. The scholarship is intended to recognize a member of a Gamma Iota Sigma collegiate chapter best exemplifying the personal character and values of Elizabeth Lange. Successful chapter, family and community contributions will hold a higher priority for the recipient than solely individual recognition. The scholarship recipient will receive a monetary award.

Applicants must be nominated by their local chapter and submit this application to the Grand Chapter no later than June 1 via regular mail or email. The nomination must include a letter of recommendation from the Chapter Advisor and the Chapter President. The nominee must also submit an essay about their individual efforts.

II.  RECOMMENDATION LETTERS (two required)

1.  Chapter Advisor Recommendation

The Chapter Advisor shall submit a half page statement citing why this individual deserves this scholarship through his/her demonstration of enthusiasm, initiative, effort, unselfishness, etc. to benefit Gamma Iota Sigma, his/her family, and the community.

2.  Chapter President Recommendation

The Chapter President shall also submit a half page statement citing why the individual is deserving of the scholarship.

III.  ESSAY

The candidate shall submit a 2 page (maximum) essay expressing personal beliefs about moral and character values, how to establish meaningful individual objectives, the importance of family and community in establishing career priorities, and the relationship of character goals to individual goals.

IV.  RECOGNITION
