REVOLUTION EVENTS AND CLIMATE SAVERS COMPUTING INITIATIVESM TEAM UP FOR GREEN IT EXPO 2008 IN LONDON

Green IT Expo in London on 4th & 5th November 2008 will focus on

the increasingly hot topic of sustainable computing

London, UK – Amongst the growing wave of ‘greenwash’ and ‘carbon-jargon’, the sustainable business revolution is steadily gathering steam: but not necessarily for altruistic reasons.Businesses on both sides of the Atlantic are gradually waking up to the fact that more environmentally-friendly practices can often increase efficiency, win more customers and add real dollars to the bottom-line.

Sustainable computing is at the forefront of this revolution, offering not only significant cost savings and efficiency gainsfromgreener IT operations- but also huge potential for helping the rest of the business to minimise its impact on the environment, through teleworking, mobile applications, video-conferencing and the elimination of unnecessary paperwork.

Despite an impressive amount of rhetoric emanating from HM Government on environmental issues, the UK is still something of a laggard compared to the US, which is leading the way for the next generation of ‘green IT’ solutions and already getting set to reap the rewards.

Revolution Events expects to narrow this gap on 4th & 5th November this year withGreen IT Expo 2008, the first large-scale free event to present the key issues, challenges and potential business benefits of sustainable computing - to an audience of over 1,000 business influencers and IT decision-makers from many of the UK’s most important organisations.

Through a combination of complimentary seminars, supplier briefings and interactive

experience-sharing opportunities, this education-rich event will enable delegates to:

•Understand the key challenges presented by more sustainable computing

•Calculate and benchmark the environmental impact of their current infrastructure

•Identify and quantify the likely cost / efficiency benefits from greener IT strategies

•Keep up-to-speed with significant developments at a local & international level

•Ensure compliance with the latest legislation and government directives

•Review a wide range of environmentally-friendly IT products and services

•Formulate sustainable IT strategies for the short, medium and long-terms

•Implement green initiatives that deliver their full potential on the bottom-line

•Contribute directly to their organisation’s wider Social Responsibility goals

Richard Tribe, Managing Director of Revolution Events Ltd, said “Over the past two to three years, nearly all of our events have included specific content about the key issues of corporate social responsibility and the environment, with a high proportion of our delegates listing this as one of their top priorities for the next few years. Hence, we are delighted to be working with the Climate Savers Computing Initiative to deliver a dedicated event that will push forward the Green IT agenda and equip UK organisations to start acting immediately.”

“The Climate Savers Computing Initiative is working to reduce energy consumption of computers by 50 percent by 2010,” said Kim Stevenson, the EDS Vice President and representative to the Climate Savers Computing Initiative Board of Directors. “By working with the Green IT Expo, Climate Savers Computing hopes to boost awareness around the importance of green IT in the UK.”
