Background

The UoN has committed via the “Transform” project to replace its core student management systems with an Oracle Peoplesoft software system. This will be the core global system used by the university to manage the end to end student lifecycle. To develop this system, the university will be supported by external consultants who have the specific Oracle Peoplesoft systems expertise required. The Oracle Peoplesoft system comprises several modules, requiring highly specialised knowledge and skills in each module to design, build, and test solution components. This system will go live in stages over the next 3 years. As each stage goes live, the Transform objective is to have a level of self-sufficiency for ongoing global support and enhancement for this core student system, rather than a reliance on external parties. The Transform project will build this capability, developing its own team of Oracle Peoplesoft consultants that will cover each of the key modules being implemented. To achieve this, the University will recruit its own team, and develop their capability through the knowledge transfer from the Transform external consultants.

The University Oracle Peoplesoft Functional team will comprise of a Lead, with a team of consultants who specialise in different Peoplesoft solution modules.

Purpose of the New Role:

The Oracle Peoplesoft Functional Consultant will provide UoN with in-house Oracle Peoplesoft functional expertise, covering the key areas of the UoN Oracle Peoplesoft solution. On a day to day basis the Oracle Peoplesoft Consultant will be a key member of the project team, designing and delivering Peoplesoft solutions for their area of expertise. Within Transform the responsibility for the solution will transition from the external consultants to the university consultant team. The Oracle Peoplesoft team will be expected to provide specialist input to test phases to ensure system robustness prior to go live. They will also be expected to progressively carry out build activities, and support transition to go-live.

As each phase goes live the team will provide Oracle Peoplesoft support expertise to the Transform global student system via the UoN support model.
