Write-a-thon 2017!!!

I’m writing to ask you to support me in the upcoming Write-A-Thon at the University of Houston, on Saturday, November 4th. The funds from this all-day event will help offset costs and provide scholarships for undergraduate writers to attend UH’s week-long Boldface conference in May, the only national literary conference specifically for undergraduate/emerging writers. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 for the conference, which is run on a non-profit basis. Every donation, large or small, is a huge help to us, and I hope you’ll consider sponsoring me.

My entry fee into the event is $20. I would appreciate if you would consider covering my entry fee, or match/exceed the $20 by sponsoring my attendance at an hourly rate while I’m present at the event writing. A check can be sent to the address below, or you can also donate online by going to

Boldface is an amazing opportunity for undergraduate/emerging writers to attend workshops, craft talks, professionalism panels and readings, and it’s offered at a nominal cost for students ($150 for the week, which includes breakfast and lunch daily). The conference is run by the staff of UH’s undergraduate literary magazine, Glass Mountain, and is attended by students from around the country.

This year’s Write-A-Thon will be held in the University’s Roy G Cullen, and I’ll be spending the day writing with fellow students and staff, as well as attending craft talks to become a better writer. We have some fun, but the ultimate goal is to help new writers find help, a community, and new skills at the Boldface Conference for Emerging Writers.
