As we come to the end of another eventful year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Quilchena community, students, parents and extended families for being so enthusiastic, caring and supportive. It has been my great honour to be your Principal for the past six years. This is such a caring and inclusive community and I know I leave you in good hands as Mrs. Wallace takes the helm. Thank you for everything and all the best for continued success and happiness.
For the very last time, on behalf of the Quilchena staff, I wish all of our families a happy and safe holiday, full of relaxation, fun and sun.

BACK TO SCHOOL - SEPTEMBER 2017
Tuesday, Sept 5 8:45 - 9:45 All students including Kinderkids
Sept 6 - 8 Gradual Entry schedule for Kindergarteners
8:45 – 2:40 Grades 1 - 7
Students will need healthy recess snacks and lunches
Sept 8 Students Grades 1 - 7 move to their new classes
On Tuesday, September 5, the PAC will provide coffee and goodies for the parents from 8:45 – 9:45. Come mix and mingle while you wait the hour for your children.

As mentioned in our last newsletter, we wish fare-thee-well to Ms. VanOstrand, Ms. Campbell and Mr. Dame. All the best for the future.
We are also saying goodbye to Ms. Yu who has been a Noon Hour Supervisor at Quilchena for the past four years. She is beginning an exciting new chapter in her career by taking the EA course beginning in July. Best of luck, Ms. Yu.
NEW AND RETURNING TO QUILCHENA IN SEPTEMBER:
We are very pleased to welcome back Ms. McMillan who has been off on maternity leave this year. Welcome back to Quilchena, Ms. McMillan!
Welcome to Ms. Tham who will be our new Noon Hour Supervisor, replacing Ms. Yu. Ms. Tham is presently at Bridge school and comes to us with a wealth of experience. Welcome Ms. Tham.
I am delighted to welcome Ms. Ho to Quilchena’s staff. I worked with Ms. Ho at Brighouse and I know she will love Quilchena and Quilchena will love her. She will be teaching Music and possibly French on Mondays and Thursdays. I am so happy to leave the music program in such good hands.
We have gone up to seven divisions for next year and will be hiring a new teacher for our Grade 3/4 position. This position will be filled before September.
NOTICE OF LATE RETURN - EXTREMELY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Richmond School District has developed a stringent policy regarding late returns. If you will not be returning to school by noon on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 you will be removed from our register unless we have heard from you. If you know you will be returning between September 6 and September 15, please fill in the notice of late return which can be obtained from the school office. You must return to school by Friday, September 15 or we cannot hold a space for you.
