A Who’s Who of Area Business Expected at Start Line of Wisconsin’s Only Corporate Run/Walk

Milwaukee, August 15, 2013 – Teams representing some of the state’s most well-known companies enter the final month of training for Wisconsin’s only corporate run/walk -- the Salus Schlitz Park Corporate Challenge. The 3rd annual 5K run and two-mile walk scheduled for Thursday, September 19th at 6:15 p.m. rewards company participation, not just speed, and is designed to promote employee health and wellness through competition and camaraderie.

About 40 corporate teams participated in 2012 including winning team GE Healthcare with more than 90 runners. Returning teams include GE, MillerCoors and Northwestern Mutual. They will step up to the start line with new teams from Rockwell Automation, S.C. Johnson & Sons, Inc. and a dozen more first-year entrants.

“The Corporate Challenge provides Wisconsin organizations the opportunity to flex their muscle as health conscious employers committed to wellness,” explains Michael Boehmer, director of Wellness and Fitness Services for Salus. “All Corporate Challenge participants receive free training plans, finish line dinner celebration plus other perks.”

Recognizing the event’s success along with the shared objective to promote employee health and wellness, Schlitz Park invited Salus to move the Corporate Challenge to Schlitz Park for 2013. So far seven Schlitz Park tenant companies plan to field teams. Through Salus, Schlitz Park provides tenants with free corporate wellness services. “Schlitz Park and downtown are not only great places to take care of business, but also your health and wellbeing,” said Schlitz Park developer Gary Grunau. “Health and wellness offerings are important tenant amenities that attract and retain employees.”

Register for the Corporate Challenge at www.wicorporatechallenge.com. Organizations first choose a Company Coordinator to register the company; then individual team members register. Proceeds for the Salus Schlitz Park Corporate Challenge will go to Milwaukee Riverkeeper, a nonprofit that serves as an advocate and voice for the Milwaukee, Menomonee and Kinnickinnic Rivers.
